Has Venerable (sic) only been with one team his entire career? I didn't know that.

What would you call the people, if after 3-5 years of 8-4/9-3 or worse, would still be making excuses for him?

True LSU fans?

Point is, there are people on both extremes and most of us are neither.

Fair question. As I've noted, I was not in support of the hire. I'm hopeful but not ready to trust that all is well. If we continue with 8-4 seasons then no it's time to change. The whole point of firing miles was to compete again for championships. Can Orgeron do that? I'm skeptical but I don't see the point of forecasting such misery and minimizing all positive signs that may occur

In your crystal ball there aren't any better seasons, ever?
Do you totally rule out the possibility of 10 win seasons?

Pretty much where I am. There’s reason for both skepticism and hope, and room for both here also. I’m avoiding forecasting, but I do have real concerns.

Well, as a long time reader of the board I decided to join the discussion.

But why specifically in October of last year after reading for so long?

I don't, however, see the point in hoping he fails

I hope for nothing of the sort.

Which is why seeing LSU go 1-4 against SEC teams ranked at the end of the year since he took over has me so worried.

Not sure why that doesn’t bother so many others that claim to want to see LSU succeed.

This is disengenuous. A hypothetical is not a prediction. I don’t rule out 3-9 or a national championship. There’s just not enough data to know.

But you’re ok with minimizing all negative signs that may occur?

Does it make me a bad fan to say I am proud and happy with the turnaround the staff made but still have concerns about the future?

Its a really wash of a season, there were some excellent moments, some bad moments.

It was a much weaker schedule compared to other years, I am optimistic but next year will be extremely telling IMO

We played a lot of really bad teams this year, we also beat a very good Auburn team but I still need to see more to safely say I am confident.

hopefully we can do well and build onto how we finished the year

No absolutely not. I'm good looking at the big picture. I think there's a lot to be optimistic about and personally, that's where I focus. I see lots of room for improvement as well and remain skeptical about some things. Time will tell. Could the year have been better? Sure. Could it have been a disaster? Easily. How recruiting finishes and what next season looks like will tell a lot. In the meantime, I choose not to be miserable about what could have been or what might be. I'll be hopeful until there's reason not to be.

As for why I joined in October of 2016, well that's when I returned home following months of cancer treatment and I thought I'd talk LSU sports with other fans

It's still a very lazy hire. This year's schedule ended up being very easy. Let's see how he looks after next year's schedule. My guess is 5-7 wins next year.
