yeah, it would have been a disaster to play the game at 4pm, because it would have been over at 7pm, and since the contraflow doesn't start until tomorrow morning, it would have been impossible to clear traffic in a matter of 12 hours, i mean, look how bad traffic has been in BR the last couple of hours

I think the real prob was working the State Police for 48 hrs straight.

Playing the game at 4:00 pm would just have just been a disaster

how?

because people would be leaving 6 hours later for a storm that would be about 2.5 days away from gametime?

I personally think it is better to err on the side of caution than have people lose lives from lack of preparation.

Lost me there.

How? Contraflow isn't in action now, 4 hours after the game would have ended, and I imagine the early exodus that we saw that resulted in a very subtled gameday atmosphere would still be there if not more pronounced.

This I can buy.

Although can someone explain to me why couldn't the LA National Guard folks that are being deployed all over anyway couldn't help out here?

And he still hasn't changed. He annouced earlier that he would order a mandatory evac if the track doesn't change for the 7 PM update.

Except they don't update the tracks at 7, it is just an intermediate update where you just let the latest on wind speed, pressure, land speed and direction, etc.

The same reason Katrina was such a catastrophe.

Katrina was a catastrope because thousands of people wanted to play the odds and lost.

It was then compounded by the fact that Blanco didn't understand the laws surrounding federal aid, and did not give permission for active duty troops to be sent, thus forcing for units to first be called up, and then organized for mobolization, before they could be sent.

That has nothing to do with explaining why the LOUISIANA NATIONAL GUARD can't do the job.

If our own national guard, which answers directly to Jindal, can't get through the "bureaucracy" well enough to do traffic control/regulation, then we are already fricked because there is no way we can effectively mount any kind of effort no matter the prep or federal/out of state aid sent.

Did you fail to grasp what he was saying?

All words are real even fnord.

It is up to the individual to understand the meaning.

the people of this state have enough common knowledge to prepare there property and families for potential devastating natural disasters. if you are one that needs the government to tell you how to go about doing this, well i feel sorry for you. i'm smart enough to realize what has to be done to ensure that i protect myself and my family without a gov. official telling me what is the best course of action. 90% of the people of this proud state are capable of doing this also.

Not really. Always wanted to drive a nice but understated car once I got out of college. Did't want to be seen driving a BMW, cuz of the snob factor.
