Keep in mind those were Big12 lines that dominated ours.

So is our victory at UT somehow worse than Georgia's decisive loss to the same team in the Sugar Bowl?

Does Alabama's defense stink because they got pasted by Clemson?

People need perspective. This was a character-building, impressive win.

I'm as excited as anyone about our offense and winning that game last night. But I said preseason Texas was not a top ten team, and I stand by that. That doesn't diminish what LSU did, because they did it on the road, and Texas is at least a top 20 team, legitimately speaking, and maybe top 15. But they are a big 12 team. Big 12 teams throw the ball a minimum of 50 times a game, and they pile up points. Year in and year out, the only team out of that conference that has a claim to be in the top ten is Oklahoma. Nobody plays defense in that conference.

I didn't expect a shutout from our defense. I simply expected a pulse. If we could hold Alabama under 30 points last year, with an offense that scored a big fat zero, I do absolutely believe that more should be expected from this defense than what we saw last night.

I do believe that they will be much better. But it starts with a commitment to being more aggressive up front, and our corners are too good to be giving such a huge cushion. Bring them up and trust them to do the job. Tackling is obviously the other area, but you know that's going to be addressed. That was a lack of focus on simply wrapping up and finishing the play.

And now Ed O is 6-0 at LSU against top 10 teams (not named Bama).

That's damn impressive. Now we just gotta get a W over the crimson turds.

We played a team that Kirk and other analyst had as the top 4 teams to make the playoffs. We played a legit QB wether you feel that way or not, that kid can ball. We now understand what our weaknesses are and what we need to fix. We saw a legit top 10 team last night and we walked away with a W! We have an Offense baws!!!!!!!!

Agree. That’s a legit good team we beat in there house.

Spot on. The D will be fine.

I forgot how dumb and miserable some of our fans can be.

These conference generalizations are so stupid. Herman has turned Texas into a very physical football team, with solid players on the LOS.

We’ve had very good defenses get torched before. 2011 West Virginia had over 500 yds passing. Our defense wasn’t that bad that year, was it?

And this Texas team is way more talented than that team.

Just wait...that defense better straighten that shite up quickly because Alabama has a better QB, better WRS, better RBs, and a better O-Line.

And had 7 other downs on those two GL stands that LSU legit kept them out of the end zone.

Ignore this dude.

He said the 5 sacks don't really count because we couldn't get pressure with 4 when receivers were open.

It’s like coach JT Curtis said pregame. This is the kind of game that I win by 1 point and I’m very happy.

5 for 5 on 2nd half possessions. 4 tds and a fg. In years past that was a whole games worth of scoring.

LSU
Alabama
Clemson
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Georgia
Auburn (if for no other reason than their defense, and Texas' lack, thereof)
Wisconsin
Oregon, even though I thought they were overrated going into the Auburn game.
Even Penn State, again mainly because of their defense.

Those teams for sure, I'd put ahead of Texas, because they are more balanced teams. Everybody slings the ball around in the big 12, but they don't hold up well against a little physicality, which LSU did not provide on defense, but still won.

There are a host of other teams that I basically put neck and neck with Texas. LSU's win over Texas is the most significant victory of the season for any team thus far, because they did it on the road, in a highly emotionally charged environment. It's a great win. It's just that, as the season goes on and things shake out, I don't think Texas is good enough defensively to just keep outscoring everyone.

The same could be said for LSU, if last night is any indication of what's to come defensively, but LSU has the personnel to be better. Texas was always going to be a bad defense this year. I said that when the preseason polls first started coming out.
