Florida Atlantic fired coach Tom Herman on Monday, the school announced, just two years into his tenure.
FAU was 6-16 during Herman's two seasons and had gone 0-6 in the AAC this year. FAU is on a five-game losing streak.

There are no real up and comers (that are availible) outside of Dillingham. Maybe Jedd Fisch?

kenny dillingham… young offensive minded coach . Also a players coach connects good with the younger generation. I wouldn’t want kiffin cause every time he gets into the top 10 he quickly exits by losing to schools he shouldn’t and it will happen again this year watch . Curt is BK 2.0 . And for the love of god no one lashlee that would be a bush league hire for a school like lsu . Maybe for our OC position but I wouldn’t give him a keys to a Lamborghini

I like Dillingham but he went to Starkville as a big favorite and lost.
They also got absolutely beatdown by Utah this weekend.
Every coach loses games they shouldn't.

I like the idea, but being the head coach at a top CFB school like LSU is probably the hardest job in sports. Even harder than being an NFL HC.
You basically have three full time jobs. You have to coach, recruit, and keep your boosters happy. That also doesn't account for keeping admin happy and playing that game. Not sure if Sheppard is capable of doing that at this point in his career. There's a reason he's spent most of his time in the NFL.
None of this matters anyway because we're not firing BK

People here will scoff but I would absolutely consider him for a job at LSU
He is a damn, damn good coach imo
If he chooses his next job wisely he will have that program humming

Do you really want someone older than Brian Kelly (unless its Saban)?

I think he will be Kentucky's first choice

I still wonder how things would have turned out with Tom had he taken this job and gotten burrow
He really hasn’t had any success to speak of since he got fired from UT but still, it’s interesting

He could do a lot better than Kentucky

He may not win a title here but this notion that he is a shitty coach is fricking stupid and shows the ignorance of this board.
He may be a "great" coach but he has shown no indication that he can build a staff.

Might be perfect for him, great pay but expectations aren't has high as other SEC schools. It is his alma matter, he had two coaching stints there.

Hey — before y’all start praying for Kelly to pack his bags, let’s do the math so your tantrums don’t sound like kindergarten-level whining.
Brian Kelly owns a ~.729 win rate at FBS-level jobs.
He now sits among the winningest active coaches with over 300 career wins. At LSU he’s 29–11 overall with a 17–7 mark in SEC play.
In his first three seasons he matched, if not outpaced, what Saban did early — Kelly’s 26–10 vs Saban’s 26–12 over three years.
Defensively, that’s where he’s shown real bite — LSU’s defense has been the backbone, making game-defining stops, with his offense improving.
So to all the loudmouths trashing him with zero constructive ideas — y’all look like fools. You either produce a plan or shut up.

compared to BK and all the portal spending.
Mizzou was one of the first teams to embrace the portal and NIL full speed. Missouri was one of the first states to enact NIL legislation advantaging in-state schools. This offseason has been our only true big spender season in the portal. This past of your argument doesn’t really hold water.

All this is true, but I'd take the risk.
He knows football.
Gruden and his Offensive Staff Selections, combined with the current LSU Defensive Staff would be killer IMO.
That would be a terrible hire. Thank god it will never happen.

So youre saying he must be a really good coach then. Having one of the best resumes in current cfb and all his staffs have been bad.

Knowing Woody watch him get nervous and give BK an extension????. Woody should just be a fundraiser not hiring FB/BB coaches!

Notre Dame before Kelly
3-9
7-6
6-6

8-5
8-5
12-1
Lsu before Kelly
5-5
6-7

10-4 SEC west champs
10-3
So tell me again about him under delivering?
There are some lsu fans that let their hate for Kelly blind them to actual facts about Kelly's career.
Facts point to Kelly having success at every place he has ever been a HC at.
In 30 years of being a HC he has never been fired or asked to part ways with a program
Do you understand how rare that is?
Kelly may never win a national title in his career but this notion that he has been a failure at any HC position is stupid.
