I’ve got a couple folks inside the “inner LSU circle” — people with deep pockets and serious influence when it comes to decisions behind the curtain. The kind of people who write seven-figure checks and get a say when big calls are made.

There’s been some frustration bubbling under the surface about how a few key moves have played out lately. Nothing confirmed, but if the right boosters start grumbling, could we actually see Woodward’s position get looked at?

Alright, I know this will get the board buzzing — but I’ve been hearing some pretty interesting chatter the last few days about Marcus Freeman and LSU from some insiders, people close to the inner circle..

Apparently, some very quiet back-channel conversations have been happening between a few folks and Freeman’s circle. Nothing “official,” but a couple of my usual contacts (who nailed the Kelly-to-LSU move before it broke) said Freeman’s name is being floated hard behind the scenes, STRONGLY.

Could this be Woodward’s move to bring a defensive-minded, culture-driven leader back to the SEC? It’s early, but the timing — ND’s recent struggles and LSU’s recruiting focus — sure makes it interesting.

He now sits among the winningest active coaches with over 300 career wins. At LSU he’s 29–11 overall with a 17–7 mark in SEC play.

In his first three seasons he matched, if not outpaced, what Saban did early — Kelly’s 26–10 vs Saban’s 26–12 over three years.

Defensively, that’s where he’s shown real bite — LSU’s defense has been the backbone, making game-defining stops, with his offense improving.
