Big, mean, fast, and pissed off when they got to the ball. Hell yeah.

New generation of offensive firepower throughout this conference than what we saw a decade ago.

Aranda had us at the 31st ranked D this year. Pelini would have whooped some arse over that sorry performance

Big reason for the 2007 championship.

Well his defense completely shite the bed in that Arkansas game. If not for Pittsburgh upsetting WVU, that game would have cost LSU the national title.

Something to prove and a coach that would be passionate about OUR program. I don’t think he would use us as a platform to somewhere else. This is a perfect fit to help defend the program and redeem his name.

Flynn finished that game under 50% passing IIRC and the play calling sure didn't help our defense out. Darren McFadden (top 5 SEC RB of all time) ran the wildcat all night

Bo Pelini was widely talked about as the #1 DC in the country for 4-5 years and had good results at Nebraska. Look at their record before/after him.

So did the offense. Pelini had a blitzing scheme that was pretty amazing. You did not know where it was coming from. When we blew the lead against Tenn at home they did not blitz at all and made the qb look like a heisman winner. The very next week they started blitzing and blew miss st out at their place. Thats when his defenses began to shape. May not be the best hire but i think it will be as good as Aranda's defensive rankings have been. If you look back at the rankings with the exception of his first year, they were really good after that.

Yet the only defense to slow us down had the best front 7 in the country....

This is silly.

Anyone with 2 eyes could have told you the entire season that the defense was fine. In fact, I did over and over and over. And all anyone wanted to talk about was Vandy putting up 24, Texas shredding the secondary, or a QB running for 200+ on us, when those games did not tell the story of our defense. The truth is, the defense got stronger and healthier over the course of the year. And something that was always reliable with Aranda's defenses were that they showed up when it mattered. Just like they did the last 4 games of the season.

I don't have an opinion on Pelini one way or the other, but don't discredit what Aranda did just because you know how to turn on your computer and navigate to the NCAA website.

Just so we’re clear-you’re crying over one game where he gave up 50 points after three overtime’s against one of the best backfields in college football history

If Pelini runs the same D now that he did in 2005-6 he’ll get eviscerated by Leach and Kiffin and Mullen. The game has changed so much.

Big thumping safeties who just hit hard and run downhill isn’t how it’s done anymore

I completely share your opinion on the LSU D this year and the fine job Aranda did. Half his defense was playing on one leg for a good part of the season. Once they got healthy it was pretty much lights out.

I do, however, have an opinion on Pelini based on my observations of his defense here before and his record at Nebraska (which was STUPID to fire him); He would be an awesome addition to LSU again, and his D's would be top 10. I hope he comes back.

And that's fine, honestly. Like I said, I don't have an opinion one way or the other. It just irks me when people shite on Aranda and throw out stats that don't tell the entire picture.
