I think many of us are reacting to the possibility of Bo Pelini as DC and wondering why he would be considered when there are other promising options available. If he's being strongly considered, I think the ultimate question is whether he has grown from his past failures and is primed to be a successful DC. He certainly had success early as a DC although his career has had some lowlights too. No one would have thought after O's stint at Ole Miss that he would be successful as a head coach let alone win a NC. I can see O being sympathetic to this line of thought in regard to Pelini.

His past failures as a head coach you mean? When has he been a failure as a DC?

Bo needs to go ahead and retire or stay where he’s at with the low pressure job, or maybe do analyst work. He’s not exactly a spring chicken anymore.

Because you guys are in the interviews right?

Jesus, how many times does O need to kill it before you just trust that he knows what he’s doing?

Pelini has never really been a failure on the field. He has off field anger issues... but his Ds have always been solid and pretty sure Nebraska would kill to have him back after the past 5 or 6 years.

He's the same age Saban was when he left LSU.

He's in his prime coaching years.

He’s literally in the prime of his career-life.

He is in prime coaching years. Good Lord you people are embarrassing. He isn't coming out of retirement, he has been coaching ever since he left LSU. Look at his record as a DC. He knows about the spread I'm sure so don't bring that crap up either.

Joe Brady brought out the full retard in people on here. He was the exception, not the rule. There aren't 30 year old masterminds of football running around all over the place. Pelini is not old.

Is this an assumption or have you looked up results?

A couple teams hung 50+ on him this year.

He's at fricking Youngstown state dude.

Look at his defenses at LSU, and look at his results as a head coach at Nebraska.

He is a head coach not DC man. Look at his DC work. There is a major difference in being the head man in charge and a coordinator.

He’s 52. Three years older than the esteemed Brent Venables. Bob isn’t my first choice but this line of thinking is crazy.

Welcome to modern college football. We just put up 100+ points on 2 Top 4 teams including the statistical #1 D in the country and who many regard as the best DC in the biz.

Saban isn’t exactly holding teams to 14-17 points anymore either.

Not to mention Youngstown State isn’t exactly a great comp.
