He wasn't going to be a first round guy, but an early pick. No scouting services had him in the first round
He was the #18 prospect in the class. That's late 1st/early comp.

Crews was #13.

They absolutely do.

Based on what? Maybe SOMEONE had this name back then, but it’s exploded in popularity since the 2000s

Has it? I’m around a TON of baseball, anywhere’s from 6-14 years old and I don’t know one fricking Paxton

Kid would have been drafted early but not first round(Could have been as early as the 2nd round though).

I want him at catcher only honestly. If he catches he’s not pitching.

Would be pretty cool to see someone catch their own pitches

Good news but we will only have him 2 years if he performs up to his abilities

A weekend for him would look like:

Fri - C
Sat - DH/PH
Sun - P

OR

Fri - P
Sat - DH/PH
Sun - DH/PH

OR

He could just catch and be a 1 inning guy once or twice per week.

I think they have a plan.

He wants to do it all. And I get that. Being a two way guy is hard. Doing it as a catcher is nearly impossible. And it makes things difficult on a coach too if he starts a game catching then comes in to pitch. I just think he’s too important behind the plate.

I think Crews should just make the Buster Posey move.

Once again, he’s being recruited as a pitcher. Spot duty only as a catcher
