That is actually insane. Especially considering that’s against 2 of the most talented hitting teams in the country

My one and only knock on him is that he throws too many strikes. When he gets a ball called on him, I'm usually bitching because it should have been called a strike. I want to see a 58 foot breaking ball when he's ahead 0-2 or 1-2. You think he makes hitters look foolish now, he would have people looking like total fools if he could master that.

I mean… hasn’t hurt anything up to this point has it.

Obviously not. I'm not saying he sucks. I'm just saying that hitters would HAVE to swing at a unhittable pitch, if he could throw it. What he throws currently is almost unhittable, but it's not as unhittable as a pitch that you think is coming at 101 and ends up dieing 2 feet in front of you.

I know what you mean. It’s just like Crews, he gets too many hits.

Neal and Milazzo are good, but they aren’t Yadier Molina behind the dish

Dude is throwing a 101 mph fastball. Have fun as a hitter knowing the pitch, knowing it is going to be a strike, and trying to hit that pitch.

Y'all are missing my point.
Tonight Skenes threw a great change up. The batter was way out in front of it, and fooled. He threw his barrel out, found the ball and hit a RBI single up the middle of the infield. The point I'm trying to make is that you couldn't get lucky like that on a ball that bounces in front of the plate.

Both of them could keep a ball in the dirt in front of them that they knew was coming.

I agree that you can be “wild” in the strike zone, but he has been very effective. The only thing I would like to see is him elevate his fastball on occasion with two strikes. He stays down in the zone and it allows guys to foul some off which drives up his pitch count. But we have to admit we are really not-picking at this point…what he is doing is amazing.

No offense but you don't know jack shite about pitching bud

First couple of hits off Skenes last night were off breaking balls that were almost in the dirt. They were lower velocity pitches that were falling off, and it was something to see those Tenn players drop the bats on them like they did. Didn’t see much damage on Skenes fast balls…

I know the exact pitch you’re discussing - it would have bounced at the tail end of the plate had the batter missed. That’s about as good of an 0-2 pitch as you can throw. I guarantee he put that ball where he and Wes Johnson wanted it.

Dude I get what you’re saying. But he’s facing some talent every weekend. With that being said there’s always room for improvement. This man is about to own the big leagues.

You sound like the guy bitching last night when Crews stole second to get into scoring position. “I don’t know that I like opening up first right there”
What. The actual. frick.

Pitch count, bro. For as many strikeouts as he gets, his pitch count is always going to be climbing. He rarely has a 8-10 pitch inning simply because the other hitters don’t put the ball in play early in the count that much.
Nibbling too much might get him through only 6 innings instead of the 7 we’ve been getting.
