See Dusty Baker as mentioned earlier. He said he doesn't like walks because they clog up the bases. You old guys think you know baseball and your guard have given us Joe Morgan and Dusty Baker

...and Tommy Lasorda and...oh, never mind, you're right, we used to think walks were bad things.

LINK

In his defense, he played with Henry Aaron, so he knows baseball.

Anyone been to either scrimmage yet? I was going to go today but they started at 3 and not 5 like they were suppose to.

noticeable improvement in team speed. Ross lined one into the lf bleachers.jacoby hit the rf wall on an opposite field hit. Probably should have been caught though. jacoby seems to complain a lot.pm got on him about something while jacoby was playing 2nd. some sort of lack of communication.jacoby complained about a low pitch.saw dean talking to jacoby at the beginning of an inning, both walked away looking unhappy. bregman was 0-for, while i was there. field setup was lf raph,cf sciambra, rf mcmullen.... 1st katz,2nd jacoby,ss bregman,3rd ibarra,c ross.

Offense looks good. Katz, Rhymes and Ross have homered in first two scrimmages. Bregman had a double today. He also seems comfortable at SS. Team speed is much improved. Sciambra has 4 hits in the 2 games. Laird has struggled in the field. Stevenson seems solid. Ross looks like a beast behind the plate. Overall, I think the team looks pretty good for this early in the spring.

i didn't count the fly that the cf misplayed. pm ended the inning after that so i counted it as an out

ETA: we need new championship flags. the one up there now are shredded.

Anybody have any additional updates? Did they scrimmage today?

Also wanted to mention what class guys Raph Rhymes and Mason Katz are. Both of those young men gave my boys their batting gloves last Saturday at The Box.

We were taking a break from my daughter's dance competition, so we decided to drive by the stadium. Raph went out of his way to talk to my oldest ( who was sitting in the stands quietly watching) and then offered him his gloves. Raph then asked who his brothers favorite player was and he told him Mason. So, Raph went and got mason to come over. It truly made their boring dance competition weekend.

If either of those young men come to this board, I just wanted to say thanks again.

Actually Bregman scorched a double down the left field line in his first AB. Seems like every ball the kid hits is solid.

Rhymes should be hitting lead off or in the two hole. With his OBP and lack of power that's where he belongs. Don't care if he's slow, that's overrated in a lead off spot.

good to know. I missed the first inning of Saturday's scrimmage. That's why I specified "while I was there".

I really think he belongs in the 2 hole

I'm ok with him being there but having him in the 4 hole is insane.

Yea, he slugged .530, but with a .431 batting avg, thats not hard. His isolated power is .099 and thats pretty terrible.
