White Sox hired Tony Larussa after a 10 year retirement at the age of 76 and they are one of the best teams in the L.
I know its kinda apples to oranges, but its baseball and Casey is 62, and only retired for like 3 years in a sport where these old farts coach til like 80. At worst hes a stopgap until we can find our next long term guy.
I do agree about the Heimlich stuff looking bad considering all the other smoke at LSU though.

He's won every national championship at OSU, and was coaching the team for all but one of the school's CWS appearances. Pretty impressive, if you ask me.

He’s not coaching. He’s running a behemoth, high-stakes sports program. You are vastly underrating the energy requirements involved in rebranding and maintaining such an organization.
This would be more of a move for a dumpster fire program that needs a few years of stability first and foremost.

Saban is 69 (7 years older) and everyone would sign him up for 5 years.
Sounds like he got emotionally drained and I imagine he feels recharged for at least 5 years. Just saying.

As someone who has been to Corvallis and seen Oregon state up close I’ll be the first to tell you Pat Casey would dominate with LSU’s resources.
It just sucks he’s in his 60s. A bit surprised he’s a leading candidate at 62 but to say Casey isn’t a fricking great coach is ridiculous. This board hates Casey, O’Sullivan etc
