Don’t get me wrong, the man is an absolutely phenomenal coach. If this were 2011, and he were 52 instead of 62, he would be the hire of the century in college baseball. Personally, I worry about his age. Not because he doesn’t know the game, but for the simple fact that there’s no way he’s here for the long term.

It may be a great 5 years, but then we’re back on the hunt again. Unless he’d be a filler higher? Come in, win a couple titles and set the stage for the next young phenom?

Discuss.

so we have to hire another coach in 6 years after Casey hangs up a couple more flags in the outfield.

Gee, that's gonna be a real tough coaching search?

LSU doesn’t fly the national championship flags in the outfield anymore. Haven’t since 2009. Which I HATE

No guarantees he wins them. That’s a “what if” scenario. By no means do I think that’s what would happen if he were hired.

Once again. Y'all are ecstatic about Kim mulkey, who is only 3 years younger than Casey, yet she is somehow going to be here for "the long term" lol, it's just bullshite. He's not too old to have alot of good years left in him. I will be happy if we hire Casey.

Alot of y'all must be the type of people that get rid of a vehicle bc it's almost 10 years old, no matter if its an awesome vehicle or what it runs like. Stupid.

She doesn't have any PR issues, she's energetic as frick, she isn't retired, she is from Louisiana as opposed to Casey being from Oregon.

Kim Mulkey was an active coach before coming to LSU. Casey retired 3 years ago. If the man walked away after just winning a Nation Title, what makes you think he’d come in a be able to put everything he’s got into another program?

Obviously Texas and other schools didn't see him having pr issues, as they just offered him the job a couple years ago and he had to turn them down.

Nick Saban is 69 and is signed to coach til he's 77
Tim Corbin is 60

Woodward is possibly getting a proven commodity. Casey can get players and develop them. He's had a multitude of top players come through OSU. The guy is their version of Skip.

If his issues with the Heimlich situation are aired to leave no questions regarding what he knew, and how he handled things, then literally no one should shite on this hire. It's like SC hiring Spurrier. The man elevated a dead program to a really good team and had some top 10 rankings.

LSU has a stocked cupboard of young talent that can easily win a title in a year or two

So, you just want a coach that's "energetic" then. One that has that type of personality and that's all. How you know pat Casey isn't energetic? He is plenty energetic to win 3 national titles at Oregon state and one of them he best Dave van horn, who is somehow so energetic and a great coach despite never winning shite in Omaha. I'm done debating with ignorance.

Our fans would rather have a 30-40 year old who hasn’t done anything like the Tennessee coach instead of an all timer like Casey. It’s laughable

I never said Vitello would be my first choice. You’re assuming. There are other proven coaches who have 10-15 years they can contribute to a program.

I’m down for McDonnell, Godwin, or O’Sullivan but let’s be clear, Vitello isn’t in the same league as those guys currently
