I’d have to pick the 2012 Chick-fil-A game against Clemson:

-We had them 4th and 16 on their own 14 yard line, up two, with less than a minute to go. Granted, DeAndre Hopkins made the catch, this was Classic Chavis.

-We were outscored 14-0 in the 4th quarter. Mett was our QB, this is right before the 2013 explosion on offense.

-We had the ball with 2:30 to go and decided to go run, pass (1 yard), pass (sack).

-Clemson fans running their mouths about “the real Death Valley”

-This was the game Dabo/Clemson really wanted: to beat an elite SEC team and be taken seriously

-They lost to the damn Gamecocks before playing us. I remember not being worried about this ACC team going in. We were just +4 favorites but again, they just lost to USCe.

-First loss to an ACC team since 1955

I could see people picking the Notre Dame games, but we just didn’t show up. We also skull fricked them in the 2006 Sugar Bowl.

The PSU game was irritating because the field was absolutely trashed and negated our speed. Still should have won that one.

My pick still has to be the Clemson game.

The defense collapsed, but if memory serves Mett badly overthrew a wide open running back in the flat that would have killed the clock.

The right answer is 2005 Capital One Bowl. That was complete and utter bullshite.

Cheaters.

Horrible losses to Penn state, Iowa, and Notre Dame come to mind.

For me, the Clemson game had the most impact because you felt that the program was heading in a negative direction. Both ND losses just annoy me though.

Exactly. We were ranked #1 in the preseason coaches poll even after the NCG. While our offense was great in 2013, we’ve been moreso on a decline when compared to Clemson’s ascension since that bowl game.

Clemson used that specific game to recruit their way into the CFB playoffs.

14/23 120 yards, 1 TD, 1 interception. 6 rushes -41 yards.

I know I'll get downvoted into oblivion, but Mettenberger is the most over rated player at LSU in the last 10 years. I can't think of a single game he won that mattered.

The most recent bowl loss is most detrimental, Notre Dame '17.
'14 loss to ND bad also.

yet, the only QB to have success against the Bama defense pretty much since Saban has been there.

He was lights out in the second half of that game in 2012. If Les doesn't get conservative and instead puts the game away, LSU gets another shot at a title. IIRC he was like 10/11 or some shite in the second half. They had those bastards on the ropes.

Pretty sure Clemson has had only one scholarship player and a no start walk-on OL from LA since then.
They mostly get east seaboard, FL, and a few GA guys.

That game sucked for sure, but it was overshadowed by Saban leaving so it's hard to really put it in perspective.

The frustrating part of that play IIRC is our players were clearly confused because they expected iowa to call a timeout after the previous play. And instead of burning a timeout we still had, Saban let the play run with our entire team out of position to defend the play and we all saw what happened.

The most frustrating for me I'd like back would probably be the 2012 Peach Bowl. We win that game and we finish likely just outside the top 5 and an 11 win season.

The Notre Dame games and the Penn State games were both frustrating as well. Honestly, we've only been thoroughly beaten once in a Bowl game since 2000 (excluding the national title game) and that was by Texas in 2002. All our other bowl losses have come down to the wire, several ending in atypical fashion. Which is weird because all but the Citrus against Iowa in 2013 and the 2003 BCSCG have been blowouts.

I agree with your choice of game but how were they cheaters? They threw a hail mary and we didn't cover it??

IDK, he passed on that last drive until we had 1st down at the Alabama 32 yard line, then we forced Alabama to burn their remaining timeouts. After the missed FG, they had the ball on their own 28 with 1:28 to go an no timeouts There was no excuse for Chavis to let Alabama drive the length of the field in less than a minute for a TD. And he did the same thing at the end of the first half. Miles never should have attempted a 54 yard FG, but Chavis, like clockwork, lets Alabama drive for a TD in less than a minute. Alabama scored 3 TDs that game, with two of their drives coming at the end of both halves and both in less than a minute. McCarron was complete trash the rest of that game. Before the go ahead TD drive in the 4th, he was 10/22 for 93 yards. On that drive alone he was 4/5 for 72 yards

That Chik-fil-a Bowl was a real kick in the nuts, but nothing compares to the slop fest that was the 2009 Capital One Bowl against Penn State...except for maybe the infamous 2004 Capital One Bowl against Iowa (i.e., the Ronnie Prude fiasco).
