Can a person permanently pass season tickets on to a direct family member?
How does that work?

I think they have to have the full coroner's report, and verification by next of kin that it was you that died, and a surcharge, and then it's all good.

Yes, you should be able to call the LSU ticket sales department and change the name.. Just make sure you have your ID on you

You can only do it from parent to sibling or something along the first line of relationship. In other words, you can't give them to a cousin or an aunt

Season Ticket Transfer Information

Furthermore, at the time of ticket renewals an individual ticket holder may request a transfer of the ticket holder's ticket or tickets to a spouse or to a natural or adopted child or stepchild of the ticket holder. If there is no surviving child, a transfer may be made to a grandchild. The Athletics Department will offer the option to renew tickets to the spouse or child (or grandchild, if applicable) if provided with a notarized and uncontested request by the season ticket holder to do so.

What about all of their points?

All you have to do is keep them in your name and your family member becomes you easy. My Dad did it for 25 years and I have done it for 14.

"A long time ago", after my grandpa died and took his pair on the 45 with him, the subject of who's fault it was for not renewing them was always good for an argument at Thanksgiving, among mom and the numerous aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins, for the next 20 years...

Depending on what you definition of a long time ago is, you might have not had an option. 1998, when my father died, there was a no transfer policy, no exceptions. I know it has since changed, but I had death cert, succession, letter from atty. everything short of them listed in a will (I was told that would not have mattered). No transfer, no exceptions.

quote:Yes. But it wasn't always that way. My mother poured $$ into the TAF for many years and consistently improved our priority point ranking. When she died, we were informed by the TAF that we had to go to the back of the line and create a new TAF account with "zero" points. I objected and wrote to the TAF and made a clear case as to why that was unjustified. They relented and restored the account and related points to its former status by merely changing the account name that referred to her survivors. I was later informed by the TAF that the policy was revised because I and one other TAF member with similar circumstances approached them about the inequitable policy.

Years ago there were court cases on this. Family members were suing each other in succession proceedings arguing about who got to inherit the season tickets. The courts basically punted. They ruled that this was not a matter of law, and deferred to the rules set forth by the athletic dept.

What does it matter whose name they're in? You could have just left them in his name and kept renewing and paying for them. LSU doesn't care who writes the check.

For the record, nobody "owns" season tickets. They are the property of the LSU Athletic Department. You are merely renewing the right to use the tickets every year.

Non transferable, well maybe it is, see ETA below
ETA: I misstated (thanks Tigerpawl) I should have said may not be transferable. Specifics are given in the Priority Point Policy and Procedures which I do not have a copy of and is not currently available online from TAF.
