The most critical aspect of Brady's impact on the program was getting our QB and Wrs to be able to adjust AT THE LOS! The play, as called had several options. The defensive formation determined where the ball was going.

It takes a lot of coaching and TEACHING to get college players to do this successfully.

One would hope that someone with over 16 years of HC/OC experience in the NF fricking L will be able to do this, considering he will be stepping in to a situation where it is already employed.

THIS is what SL has to keep rolling.

We shall see but all the negativity at this point is laughable.

People are who they are though.

The biggest thing for me was that we ran the Saints 2 minute drill as our base offense. We threw in some RPO concepts but for the most part the passing routes and philosophy was Shaun Payton’s and Drew Brees’ invention. It was what they ran and perfected over a stellar career that made Drew the passing GOAT.

LSU ran the Saints offensive scheme and many of us would have preferred to keep that continuity by hiring someone with A Saints Background and not what seems the antithesis of a Saints background and someone that doesn’t know or have any experience what so ever with the scheme.

Now this dude might be dynamite and be the best thing ever. I don’t know him. I just would have been personally more confident if we hired someone that worked in the Saints offensive room breaking down film and scheming plays with Drew and Shaun.

.brady brought the idea of the saints offense to the tigers..his big contribution though was the way he worked with the receivers

The thing that I saw this season that has never been a LSU thing, is that the receivers never just ended their routes. In previous seasons once the route was complete receivers would stop dead in their tracks. This past season when our QB was in trouble the receivers either came back toward him, or broke for open field so that Joe would have a target. That was huge this past season. I hope that continues.

We really don't know how important the position will be, going forward.

We didn't have one until a couple years ago, as Lester mentioned. Sullivan then, followed by Brady.

2 things come to mind;
1st off nobody is impressed by Ensminger's creativity in play design. He had a career's worth of offensive coaching, never really put together anything significant... until last year. We all assume it was Brady who crafted the playbook. Now that he's gone, we need someone to tweak and update that book.

2nd, changing from a run-first to pass-first offense was a seismic shift at LSU, and likely took a huge amount of work. Brady's experience with the Saints probably helped with that, coordinating the drills etc. Well, the heavy lifting on that is now done, we have the base system in place and players available. Maintenance is now the key, instead of change.

Linehan has been in the NFL and has faced NFL defenses, I'm sure he knows how to attack them. He spent a long time in Detroit running their offense, and it was damn impressive. I don't care about W/L records, I'm looking at what Stafford did there. That's exactly what we need. Hell, if anything, this is an upgrade over Brady.

Tettleton and Callaway are gonna prove to be more valuable than initially thought.

i think they are gonna have their hands in every facet of this offense.

orgeron is promising no deviation from the aggressiveness that we saw in 2019. if anything, he wants it to be accelerated even further.

yeah yeah, linehan this and that, but i'm betting we don't see that much of a departure in philosophy here.

What happens when we need to make adjustments or the offense needs tweaking to continue to be successful?

Playbooks don’t make good offenses
