The ref on the broadcast said it should’ve been PI. It was so bad.

Yes and so did McElroy. It was a huge officiating screwup bc lsu at least would’ve had a FG attempt.

Seems like these screwball SEC officiating calls always go against us.

If u let someone keep ducking u either like it or u are a pussy. Woodward needs to publicly call them out this bullshite and threaten them with a lawsuit in Louisiana and to publish a book on the secrets we have on the mfers or else. frick the SEC, burn the mfer to the ground if they keep this bullshite

At some point they announced a penalty was declined, but after 3 minutes they changed it to accepted. Didnt know you could change your mind after making a decision but here we are.

Did anybody else notice the kind of "oh, shite" look on the ref's face just before he announced it?
Dude was very uncomfortable even after turning the mike back off.

What can LSU do about this?

Maybe if we had shown up ready to play, it wouldn't have mattered. This game was the perfect shite storm of epic proportions. BK admitted that he couldn't get the team emotionally up for the game, the defense played their worst game of the year, despite having all day to throw to open receivers, JD5 refused to let go of the ball and ended up with a costly fumble that was essentially the beginning of the end for us, weird calls, weird no calls, etc.

It’s completely unfair to the fans and players to watch one guy in stripes throw a flag whenever and at whoever he wants to control the outcome of a game.

Anybody who follows SEC football knows that we have the worst officials in all of college football. They're both incompetent and corrupt.

I was surprised that no explanation was given by the referee.

Based upon the video shown it appeared to be clear pass interference. The only possible explanation is the ball had already sailed past the receiver when contact was initiated which may not have been clear by the angle shown. Obviously one official saw pass interference and another opinion over ruled it. Would love to see video from the side to determine whether the pass arrived after contact.

That called didn't surprise me after 74-72 at that field. That bogus holding call that negated a 1st down run by Daniels was just as bad. Both of those drives would have netted points.

Some weird shite was going on with the phantom holding call as well. Ref that threw the flag was pleading with the head ref that the flag was legit, pulling on his shirt collar to show him. Like the head ref was saying “that’s a big damn call, you sure it was that blatant?” 1st and 10 in the red zone to 3rd and 19. Not saying the fix was in but it was a game changer.

And even with the holding call, on the following play JD bounced the ball to a wide open Bech who had a first down and much more. You can’t go all your life blaming your failures on outside influences.

I don’t recall seeing a PI picked up in college...ever. To do so with no explanation is sketchy as frick.

The defender jumped over his back and the ball was still too high for him to catch. The refs probably thought that the WR had given up on the play because he never attempted to leave his feet.

He never had a chance to jump … the defender came over his back before the ball arrived. That’s how fricking blatant it was.

Gosh what a shitty take. I hate when fans do this.

Daniels and the team made the play to get a first a goal. That play was denied due to corrupt officiating (again). That is a HUGE momentum killer for the team.

So, because Daniels doesn't make a play on what is now a third and forever, that means it is HIS fault. Fans like you are the friggin worst. The officials cost LSU three scores this weekend, each time on plays the team properly executed. Yet, when they couldn't recover from obvious corruption, it is THEIR fault. Just unreal.

Defender was “making a play for the ball”

Just guessing but I disagree with the commentators. I don't think the refs discussed whether the defender had a right to the ball. I think the discussion was about the ball being catchable. If the offensive player had jumped and even tipped the ball, he would've got the call. But since he didn't jump, it probably was deemed too high over his head (i.e. not catchable) and the flag was picked up.

That's just my take on it
I think you are on the right track. Of all the replay angles they showed, the one from the south endzone was the best because it was the only one that showed you that the pass was well behind the receiver, and he was not making any move to go back for it (couldn't since his momentum was carrying him in the other direction). So, of the two players involved, the only one making a move to the ball was the defender.
