I tailgated in private lots for the Saints Thanksgiving game last year starting at 7 am (a full 8 hours before kickoff). More info through the UNofficial tailgating website of Cowboys Stadium. The key is being in the PRIVATE lots, not Jerry Jones lots!!!

Dude,

We've been griping about this for weeks or months now. It's true and it sucks. Lots of folks are cutting their own deals with lots around Jerry World. There's a map of the parking lots and what they charge floating around somewhere. What's more, you can only cook/pitch tents in the Jerry World/baseball park lots on the grassy spaces so you better get there super early to grab one.

We had a legit spot in one of the lots for the Cotton Bowl and got up there fairly early (+/- 10 am I think). Only problem was that when a lot of people actually got out there, they had set up like two port o potties for like every 1,000 people which led to a lot of bottle pissing and such. Not cool Dallas. Hopefully they planned a little better this time.

I just got off the phone with a lady at Cowboys Stadium and she said the parking pass lots won't open until 2pm on gameday. That seems a little hard to believe, only giving 4 or 5 hours to tailgate before the game. She really seemed to be struggling to find an answer for me, so I'm not sure that I trust this completely. Anybody have any insider info on what time the pass lots will be opening if it's any different than what this chick told me? I'm dying to get in there and start tailgating!

You guys are lucky. Tiger Stadium is an exception to the rule. BCSNC last year didn't open until 4 hours prior either.

Outside of UGA's new rules...most everyone in the SEC allows tailgating beginning at 7am.

It'd be nice if some OU fans emailed them too...

Hi Paul,

LSU alum here. I am writing today to request an earlier time to open the parking lots for the September 3 showdown of LSU vs Oregon. One of the biggest traditions of LSU football is tailgating. It saddens myself and countless other Tiger fans that your parking lots are scheduled to open at 2PM.  Please consider opening the lots at an earlier time.

I know LSU will be bringing over 40,000 fans pumping millions into the Dallas economy for the extended weekend. I do hope you consider this exception to open the lots earlier.

Thank you,

suck on this, zealot

Mr. Turner,

Scheduling the opening of the Parking Lots at Cowboys Stadium at 2:00 P.M., a mere 5 hours prior to kickoff, is not only ridiculous, but also not practical at all.

First of all, inviting LSU to play in your facility while at the same time taking away one of our greatest traditions is borderline insulting. Waking at the crack of dawn, firing up the grill, and starting the pot of gumbo are just a few of the things that make tailgating for LSU a meaningful experience with family and friends. I cannot speak on behalf of Oregon fans, but I can assure you, they feel the same way. It is a daylong event of food, throwing a football with friends and family, watching games from around the country, and meeting new friends from both sides of the game that truly kicks off the season in high fashion.

Second of all, trying to get nearly 100,000 people to park in 5 hours, more like 4 hours since most people will head inside early, is very dangerous. By the time people get through everyone fighting for the closest spot in each lot, set up their tailgate and start to eat, it will be time to pack everything back up and head inside for the game.

I ask you on behalf of Tiger fans and Duck fans to open the lots in the morning in order to provide the utmost safety as well as preserving pre game traditions for which fans across the country wait from January to September.

Thank you,

Why does Oklahoma care what time UO and LSU get to tailgate?

Mr. Turner,
My name is ******* and I am extremely excited about the opportunity to travel to Dallas to watch my beloved Tigers take on the Oregon Ducks on September 3rd at your gorgeous facility. I was very disappointed, however, to learn that the parking lots with parking passes near the stadium will not be opening until 2pm on Saturday. One of the biggest traditions of LSU football is the tailgating, and I can promise you our fans are coming by the thousands with plans of tailgating. I would like to respectfully request that you reconsider moving the opening time of the parking pass lots to much earlier in the day to allow for the full gameday experience that is college football in the South. Thank you so much for your consideration in this matter.

Director of Event Operations. He hasn't replied to my email either, but I imagine that enough in his inbox will change that and/or his decision.

Thread about tailgating

I called around and no one could give a definite answer about the time the lots open. I heard around 2-3 pm. I'm not taking any chances on that so I booked one a half mile down the street that opens at 9 am. Has a shuttle to the game, bathrooms and security. I posted a message about it last night. A lot of LSU fans are reserving spots there so book fast.
