How, with the passionate "Roll Tide" nation, can the Cap One Bowl have been down 46% from last year's broadcast?

I love how the haters said COtton wouldn't draw as big an audience.

So outside of the BCS games and the Outback (which was on in a prime spot on New Year's Day on ABC) the Cotton was the highest rated bowl of the season.

Not bad.

Gotta love it - N.O. Bowl up over 100% but still less than a 2 share.

2010--Missouri vs. Iowa on ESPN
2009--Iowa State vs. Minnesota on NFL Network

The difference between networks is probably responsible for 75% of the uptick.

ESPN gets a win cause all those BCS games were high #'s for them, but the switch from network to cable causes lower ratings for all BCS games.

Wonder what the BCS people think of those #'s

You do realize that there were 3 other bowl games on at the same time, right? And once Alabama started skull fricking Sparty, people moved on to another game. I know I did. The Florida-Penn State game was a much more interesting game to watch since the outcome was in doubt until the final minute.

To be totally honest, our ratings in the Cap1 bowl last year were a 6.83, so the Cotton Bowl numbers are, meh, in comparison. We even beat a BCS game (Orange Bowl) last year.

Yeah but your comparing the Cotton Bowl #'s to something that was impossible to duplicate again.

Cap One was on cable, and LSU wasn't getting a BCS game or the Outback.

You can say "meh" or you can say it was the best possible outcome after that loss to Arkansas

Looking at the Outback Bowl numbers this year, I'd explain last year's Cap One rating by saying Penn St fans are fanatical.

One thing the chart does show is that the NFL is king.

It looks good, but I think the Capital One Bowl and the Gator Bowl pulled viewers away from each other, plus the Outback Bowl pulling viewers. Having three big SEC matchups at the same time hurt those ratings.

Yup!!

I thought the BCS Championship was the most watched event ever on TV? How can it be down from last year?

Saints-Seattle drew an 18.3

College football is a blip on the radar.
