Over/under on how many of Mett's passes get batted down...

I have never seen a qb have so many passes, one right after the other get batted down like Mett's. I hope its something they can work on and avoid as much as possible.

I bet they are working on that pretty heavy the last 2 weeks.
I will say 2.

This shite blows my mind. Mett has physical talent, but this is his second year in the program and 1 year spent Jr College...Why can he not find the passing lanes? Even at his height, he gets an unusual amount of passes batted. Why is there no pocket presence(internal clock/awareness of pocket movement), fumbles half the time when sacked, cannot pass over the middle without risk of getting picked (guessing that's why the coaches rarely allow it or it rarely happens). It's like there's been no development for 3 years.

I think a large part of this can be attributed to where he's throwing, down the line of scrimmage to the flat. There tends to be defensive ends with long arms in the way.

His release is too slow. They are waiting to knock it down.

I'll set it at 2 and take the over. 6' 5" and still gets passes batted on the reg.

He gets balls batted down because he stares at the 1 or 2 receivers running routes, so the lineman that don't get to him see where he's going with the ball and put their hands up. It doesn't have anything to do with his height or his throwing motion.

I head read somewhere from a Georgia fan that "what you see is what you get with Mett, there IS no development, this is good as it gets."

He never took a single snap at Georgia. How would they know?

Im not sure, all I know the guy was a fan of Georgia. Perhaps he knew Mett personnally.

One of the few quotes here with any insight at all.
Don't get me wrong, Mett needs to improve. But the passes they have been giving him (1-2 step drops to the flats, swing passes, designed spot passes to shallow curl routes) are designed to cut down on interceptions. Also, have been trying to protect Mett because dlinemen were getting after him earlier in the season. These types of passes, by their very nature, will be batted down often. This is MUCH better than the alternative, too much loft and a LB/corner taking it to the house (Jarrett Lee 08).
The fact of the matter is, they are going to have to put some faith in Mett and open up the downfield passing game. Give him more than 1-2 passing options. Trust him to be the athlete he is supposed to be. If they don't then Bama will load the box and we aren't going anywhere.

It's not like he's short, either.

Makes sense. I sure hope they do something to get him ontracked. My thought is he needs to develop some confidence. He seems to have less than even JL did when he was playing and that's saying something. This game could very well make or break his college career in my humble opinion.

I know people directly involved at UGA, as well as a cpl people that went to Oconee Co. HS with him. He's not highly thought of when it comes to behavior/reputation. Slacker. He's known to be aloof with just about everything. Don't shoot me- just what I've heard. I hope this is not the case.

No doubt. If they give him the keys, this game will tell the tale as to who he is as a QB and as a leader.
Gut check time for this entire team, especially for Mett.

I am so sick of people starting over/under threads when it is obvious they do not know how over/under works.

That tends to happen with quick passes.
