there is no question we have more all-around talent than Bama

and we have better big men than UF and compare favorable with our playmakers

coaching is it...we are very poorly coached... we were last year when talent & experience happened to bail us out... this year we were exposed for the poor coaching

After watching you hang with Bama...you were an experienced QB away. We got up so quick on you that you didnt have a QB to throw you back into the mix and it went downhill fast.. IMO

we need coaching on defense but more importantly: WE NEED A QB! and we have one now in Jordan Jefferson. Look at all the top teams: Florida, USC, TExas, Oklahoma, Texas tech, Missourri, even Alabama (this year he's pretty good), They all have good play from the QB position. Your not going to win much with crappy play from the QB position. It's an anchor on the whole team. Their is no chance to win any real games if your QB is not productive.

100% agreed. In addition to the overall poor schemes on defense, the “over-substitution” prevented any sort of chemistry from ever developing among the DB’s, LB’s, or DL. Just find the best players and leave’em on the field. Good players miss plays but they also make up for it by making plays.

Imagine a coach without any prior knowledge of their game performance could pick a team. He’s allowed to get knowledge only through watching them practice. Who do you think he’d choose? UF, GA, Bama, or LSU’s?

My guess is that we have as good or better talent than any of the above.

Tebow (IMO a 50 year player) might sway things UF’s way.

Ummm..the NFL disagrees. And they have a few people who are ok at evaluating talent. Not as good as you I'm sure.

(LSU 40 players; UF 34)

Wrong. We've had MORE talent than florida a few times over the last few years. We had MORE (not as much) talent in 03, 04, 05, 06 (yes, the year they won the NC and beat us in Gainesville) and 07.

i pray that tebow goes pro. with wilson gone after this season, there's no doubt that they will drop off. we are the poster child for the effects of an inexperienced qb. look around the big 12 and the sec, and ole miss is the exception to the notion that an experienced qb makes a huge difference. ole miss had snead, not experienced, but very good. i expect us to be much more competitive next year. stewart mandel of cnnsi.com had an article proclaiming that bama and florida would likely be in the SEC championship game next season b/c of blah, blah, blah. in his reasoning, he failed to mention the impact that their qb's had on their team. sure, both have great talent and recruiting classes. but, insert a brand new qb and chances are highly likely that they will not be nearly the same. we are the poster child for such.

so we start a QB that at least manages the game and the "D" is fixed with a new "D" coach and we are in the hunt... we will be hungry to put LSU back on top where we belong.

Defense: We have the talent, as most seem to indicate. On D, my thought all year long was that our safeties were the issue...no help with deep receivers. LB's coverage of the backs out of the backfield improved during the year. We need a little more speed (Chad Jones?) at LB. We had a talented D-line but they couldn't pass rush, other than Alem.

Moral of story: talent that doesn't always execute.

Offense: Talented line, talent returning and coming out of redshirts. Good tight end. Byrd out, which doesn't particularly hurt and opens a position of new, excited blood. RBs need to let it loose. QB is still unproven as many have stated.

Moral of story: We need experience to become consistent on offense. We need to improve our short passing game and throw deep to open up things. We need better play calling by our offensive coordinator.

Tebow is not going pro he will be back next year. Also, if anyone on here thinks that LSU has the same amount of talent as Florida right now they are dilusional. And it stands to reason that this years performance won't be any different next year. As far as Alabama, there talent was better than I expected. They were quicker than I thought. But just remember guys that you are only as good or bad by comparison. And I think we all know the answer to that honestly.

maybe a few players here and there, but recruiting rankings in general mean something, despite what Rantards want to say

look at the best teams in the country annually... they are the ones that have the Jimmies and the Joes... period

you are flat wrong... the two rosters aren't that much different.. as a matter of fact, LSU has better big men and depth than Florida... Florida is just better coached at the moment.. a lot better coached... they expect to dominate every game, LSU was soft this year... that's the difference

coaching, not talent... those Saban defenses are disciplined and they are getting headsy leadership from a 5th year senior at QB who won't win games for them but is not losing games and has the experience to manage the team well

look at all of the well-executed TE drag routes and mis-directions.. those are not fancy plays that provide any real flashiness... but Bama is so well-coached and they are so well-maximized that it works well for them

they have great coaching and that is the key to their success

Whether the "same" or not I don't know but there isn't that much difference in raw talent. The big difference on the field is due to: 1) on the d-side much better coaching, 2) Tim Tebow (IMO the best player in college in the last 50 yrs (maybe ever), and 3) chemistry on offense (which didn't seem to be there until they played us).

A year ago LSU had the better coach. Will you guys please make up your mind. The talent is not the same sorry brohhh. That is one of the problems that LSU face. I have been saying for almost 2 years that the talent everyone talks about at LSU is a facade. Let's go through the rosters

QB: In your words one of the greatest college QB's of all time. Also Brantley and Cameron Newton as backups. LSU Jordan Jefferson and Pick 6 Lee. Oh yeah let's not forget CAN'T Throw 20 yards Hatch. Advantage: Florida

RB: Florida has Demps, Rainey, and Moody. LSU has Scott, Williams, and Murphy. Advantage: For arguements sake we will say a tie.

WR: Florida has one of the most dangerous receivers in the country, Percy Harvin, and Louis Murphy, Deontae Thompson. LSU has Lafell, Byrd, and Tolliver. ADvantage: Florida. I dont think anyone here would disagree with this. We don't drop passes period!!!!

OL: Florida has Trautwein, Pouncey twins, Tartt, and Watkins. LSU has Black, Helms, Johnson, Hitt, and Barksdale. Florida's OL is leading the league in rushing and the fewest amount of sacks. LSU OL well is LSU OL. Advantage: Florida

DL: Are we going by hype or the numbers here. If we are going by the hype then LSU has the greatest DL since the STeel Curtain defense. If we are going by the numbers, Florida has more sacks than and pressures then LSU. But I know how LSU fans are you are more interested in the hype. Advantage: LSU

LB: I shouldn't even have to do this position but I will. I am sure you will counter that Beckwith and Riley are Butkus finalist. But your eyes will not let you down on this one. LSU doesn't have a Brandon Spikes nor can any of the LB's really run. They are great physical specimens but LB's they aren't. But for arguements sake, I will give the nod to LSU.

CB: Wow!! This shouldn't be debatable. Florida has Haden, Jenkins, WRight, and Black. LSU has Peterson,Hawkins, Jones and Taylor. Now I will let you guys on a little hint. One group has over 20 interceptions and one group isnt't remotely close. ONe group is the strength of a Top 5 scoring defense and one is well just a defense. ADvantage: Florida

ST: Florida has returning kicks one of the most dangerous returners by statistics in the country. LSU has one of the most dangerous kick returners in the country by hype.(Note: you cant really count him as a punt returner because he can't catch the punt) Florida has Phillips as placekicker who has missed only one field goad all year. LSU has David, a great place kicker in his own right. Florida has Henry as a punter who is known for hitting 65 yard punts left and right. LSU has Dalphrey. Enough said. Advantage: Florida

So please explain how the talent at LSU is equal to Florida's.
