Hell I'm a huge fan too been to
Omaha 4 times. But we need to refocus our efforts to basketball. Where we can actually gain national discussion.
You make a good point. Nationally nobody cares about college baseball. LSU is great at baseball and its attendance is greater than the entire Pac-12 combined, even though the pac-12 has teams like ASU, USC and UCLA which are just as good as LSU. The reason is because nobody cares. Basketball is a different story.....Pac-12 teams like U of A, UCLA and probably even shite programs like Oregon and Washington get more fans than LSU. ASU will probably also soon pass you if we stay balling! You guys need to get your hoops together, you used to be a legit program!!!

I've kept up with this thread from the beginning. I didn't respond at first because I can see (and relate to) your frustration and I don't think you were serious about no one caring about baseball right now (or you could have meant from a national standpoint which is basically true). For your sake and LSU's, I hope this season is the beginning of the rise of basketball on a consistent, national level. It would be great for the fans and the school.
I've also followed the "strategy" argument here, but again, did not post because I'm in no position to compare something I know well (baseball) with something I know very little (basketball). However, one thing I'd like to add is that, while it's not done very often at LSU or other big programs, coaches do give certain players "green lights". Pitchers/catchers can call their own game; hitters make their own call when to bunt; base runners when to steal. And every decision, whether made by the coach or player, has multiple factors (e.i. lefty/righty matchups, pitch count, count on batter, last at-bats pitch sequence, outfield position, outs, inning, position in batting order, etc.) which often have to be processed in seconds. These factors plus many more (much like down and distance) give the decision maker specific options with the final choice based on strategy: to play for one run or the big inning? To give up a run for an out or try to get the lead runner?

That's because the sport of basketball is downright pathetic.
Also, I couldn't care less what the masses (or what you) think of baseball.

Boxtards forgive you, my friend.
Baseball is, in fact, way better than basketball.
Don't be mad.

Until then do you need some cheese and crackers?

I agree with you completely. We are truly a sad, pitiful lot when we are obsessing over frickin baseball in November with a solid football season crescendoing and a basketball season full of promise and excitement starting to take off.

We are on our 3rd coach since Daddy Dale
also to be fair LSU is up and down under paul M. we started shitty (not his fault),omaha, title, shitty regional, missed all together, knocked out by stony brook, omaha. Now of course baseball has been better about staying up than basketball but i think its more about LSU baseball has won titles in the recent past while basketball hasn't won the ncaa tourny.
fwiw I love both basketball and baseball. Im glad basketball is looking like its going to a stable excellent product.

Some people can manage to talk about a variety of subjects instead of being mouthbreathers that can only discuss football during football, basketball during basketball, and so on. I see no problem with people discussing offseason baseball news during football season. We could be undefeated, and nothing would be wrong with it.

Which basketball players have flanked out of school recently? Please enlighten me. Or is that your assumption because they are predominantly African american?

Honestly id love to see actually attendance in the pmac rise and it be full by the end of the year. However, on the rant id like it to stay about the same because there is actual civil discussion in threads. We dont have the crazy ends going off on both sides.

Some only support teams and coaches who win NC. Playing for a NC doesn't count. If you don't win that NC game the team and coach are seen as a failure.
To your point, LSU is a football school. We had some great basketball players who didn't fill the stands. It's going to take JJ some time to get it rolling.

I probably shouldn't have taken a dig at our baseball fans but some of our fans entitlement attitude is annoying. Like I said before, I'm a big baseball fan too. It would just be nice if we could support all programs equally.
15k in the PMAC is honestly one of the loudest and best environments in all of college basketball. Yep I said it. Brady Ball saw this a handful of times. Specifically, in 2000 with Jabari and Stro, man those were some awesome crowds. I think we still had that taste of what Daddy dale brought to BR.
now it's been so many years, we forgot what it's like.
We have the best experience in football and baseball, so we know our fans are the best. If we could invest some of that energy into basketball, the electric atmosphere would be like none other.
If we can make the tournament this year, bring some key players back and start the year in the top 25, maybe JJ can bring the magic back.

Wow... I can't even think about deciphering which argument you are trying to make. That's a lot of fail in such a small area. Your fail to non fail ratio is way off. BTW CVS called and your meds are ready to be picked up.

I believe we make a strong run this year and while ill be disappointed if we miss the big tourny i can live with the nit. I see what JJ is building and i like it.
The pmac will return to past glory if JJ keeps recruiting like he has and we see steps towards a program that is upper level.
as for as the threads on the rant i really like what the basketball threads have going.

Reading comprehension. Learn it bro.
Guess you just skipped right over that. Just because I care about baseball doesn't mean anyone else does.

I give zero fricks about basketball. It's right up there with hockey on my list of sports I don't want to watch. LSU baseball is the only baseball I watch and I watch pretty much every game.
