Total defense with no attempt to account for pace or opponent quality is such sloppy reasoning. The other stats you posted showcase all the problems with making no attempt to account for anything extra. Nice post.

If there is one thing that LSU's opponents have learned this season, it's that stats don't really matter and most teams will only really start scoring on us when they are down by at least 2+ TDs.
Fortunately the CFP committee made our defense play with a chip on their shoulder when they dropped us to #2. I'm starting to think we should be thanking those bumbling idiots

The last 3 games (4 if you want to include the 28-0 lead on ole miss), our D hasn’t given up a TD until the score was lopsided and basically out of reach.

It was actually 31-7 at OM, but that still only makes 1 and the score was 28-0 when they scored so your point still stands.
Since the OM game, this team has had that same mentality of 2011 where they just want to step on your throats and never let you get up on both sides of the ball. It pleases me very much

They gave up less yards because their offense, Hurts particularly, is a turnover machine. Give teams tons of short fields.
