Completely agree. It puts unnecessary pressure and unfair expectations on Max and it sure puts unfair and unrealistic expectations on the fan base. Look at his comment preseason last season about the defense. The fanbase ran with it because the HC said it.
I wish he wouldn't put it in such absolute terms. Just say "Max looks good out there and he's ready to get to the season opener." Just something like that.
And I like O, I do. I've met him and was super cool but there are some things that he shouldn't say, let me rephrase, some things he shouldn't phrase it in the way he does. He's done it a few times.

IMO we definitely can do better. I think the question is going to end up being does Woodward trust that he can identify who that someone is (within reason) and can he go get that guy. Hopefully Orgeron found the right guys with these new hires and we won't have to go that route.

Let me ask you a question genius. At the time that Ed O made that unfortunate statement, did he know that Spring Practice would be shut down? How about that all summer workouts and player run practices would all also be shut down as well? Did he know that fall camp would be abbreviated? No, unfortunately he didn't have a magic crystal ball. Hence, he had no idea what was about to transpire in 2020. I mean, we never had a Covid Pandemic before. How was he or anyone else, for that matter, supposed to know?
Hence, when Ed O made that statement prior to Spring Practice being cancelled, he was assuming that a 4 - 3 defense was better than a 3 - 4 defense. I mean, it's no secret that Ed O is a strong believer in the 4 - 3 defense.
I'm sure had he had a magic crystal ball, Ed O not only would not have made what turned out to be a stupid sounding statement and instead, given the circumstances, he would have foregone transitioning to the 4 - 3 defense and stuck with the 3 - 4 defense until at least the Covid Pandemic had run its course.
Yet dedicated Ed O haters like this idiot wants to vilify and demonize Ed O every chance he gets because Ed O didn't have a magic crystal ball.

But....keep in mind that Orgeron is a loose cannon and none of his proclamations/gushings should be taken as profound. That is why he will always struggle to win the confidence of the fan base, those who see through his Schtick!! Take it with a grain of salt.......

Who's 'bitching' about anything? Saying that he shouldn't phrase things the way he does occasionally is not bitching about anything. That doesn't mean anyone hates him.
It's a poor choice of words on O's part. It puts unnecessary pressure on the only QB that has had any experience in SEC play and it's unfair to put that kind of expectations on Max.
It also places unrealistic on the fanbase. O said this so the fanbase will run with it. When what he said doesn't happen, the fanbase will get pissed at Max, not O. Look at what he said about the defense last year. People ran with it because the HC said it.
It's a reasonable point to consider. But you never fault him for anything so it 'has' to be someone else's fault.

You're right because everything you haters fault him far is always deliberately twisted way out of context relative to reality. Pirate King we know about but Purple Tiger King gets so defensive if anyone brings up anything remotely not favoring O or even just simply stating, "he shouldn't say it like that." That's all I'm saying and I'm not the only one saying it. The majority in this series of pages have said the same thing.
That isn't hating O. It's a critique or a fair criticism.
