re: Orgeron deserves a raise and an extension, but proceed with caution

Still not seeing how he "deserves" anything after only 2 seasons out of a 5 year contract (?) and no one coming for him. This upcoming season seemed like the perfect chance for him to earn it, but I guess that's just me.

quote:i didn't say that o had NO complicity in the bama losses, because he certainly does. i was responding to complaints that lsu didn't win or score any points, which only has some validity but it's certainly not a reason to deny that he's doing a good job overall.
Who else should we blame?
quote:you can't deny that the bama team that played lsu was the same team that played clemson. two totally different tide teams. the clemson version was positively unrecognizable. completely out of character. again, that part of the equation is not o's fault. i think there are things he could have and should have done better but, lsu still would have lost.
Utter and complete domination

quote:why do you people keep using an excluded middle? i'm not saying o is not at fault at all. i'm saying that the point differential has three components to it, one that o is responsible for, the other 2 he is not. stop acting like o sucks because he can't account for all three. it's stupid
If you're going to use this line of thinking, who do you fault for LSU not playing their best game of the year vs Bama?

Beating Bama is one of the 3 most important things for our new coach
Win championships
Beat Alabama
Fix the Offense
In that order

of our nine Power 5 opponents, guess how many we beat that finished with a winning conference record?
One.
And two that we lost to (excluding Bama) each had 3 conference losses.
you people will twist into pretzels to deny something obvious. it's amazing really

These are your words, not mine. I never even hinted that O sucks.

it is pretty clearly the most important game on the schedule every year at this point.

Bama is the gold standard in the SEC

quote:i don't think this is true and it's a reason why i think o should get legitimized criticism. his approach to the bama game is the same as miles' - do what we do best. well guess what? bama's already prepared to stop that and has the capability of doing so.
It's going to take a while to close the gap
Posted on 2/4/19 at 3:53 pm to Rickdaddy4188
quote:this is a valid criticism of o. auburn has such a diverse offense that they can execute some things bama has not prepared for. lsu has yet to do that since the 9-6 game. that's on the coaches. lsu's lines haven't been up to the task. that's on the coaches.
How come less talented programs like auburn dont have a problem beating bama on a semi regular basis?
however, to say o sucks because of one game against a team that is dominating EVERYONE is just ridiculous

But keep pretending like he is actually holding O accountable for anything.

Says the poster who has repeatedly said LSU was 11-2 last season.

You said this...
So, if that's gonna be one of your reasons that LSU can't score on Bama or beat them, then it's only fair to ask why LSU isn't playing their best game vs Bama. Why aren't playing their best and most energetic game? Why isn't there an expanded playbook on offense?
I agree 100% with this part.

Considering that your nickname is lying ricky I'd say it's the pot calling the kettle black.

It's time to clean house. Top to bottom. Fire everybody.

He doesn’t deserve nor is entitled to discuss a contract extension until after next season. If he doesn’t perform against Texas A&M and Florida and get shut out by Bama again then it’s time to cut bait.
He is having trouble getting defensive line recruits. That should be an alarm.
