Number one, rankings at the start of a season don't mean shite. Number two, highlighting a win over a team which finished 6-6 is sad for a top 20 team.

were we good or bad in 2015?

you don't care if we are ranked in the top 10 preseason as opposed to being unranked?

never said fans highlight it but most won't belittle it...plenty of our "fans" do so

I don't really. I mean if it's overly egregious then we will always ask questions. But, if you win, you will be there in the end. I think LSU proved that this season.

You can find Steve Spurriers record vs top 5 teams, they show that kindve stat during games all the time and it’s recorded by when those teams played each other not by their final ranking. So if the NCAA records it that way then that’s how it should be judged.
right, except you can also mention how he won a national title, a few conference titles, and even got a division title at South Carolina.
it's only for coaches who don't have any hardware that you have to make things up like "beat 4 top 10 teams" or "came back from 20-0 at home".

it simply adds excitement to the season and makes networks promote games...it's fun to be highly ranked and not have to fight as hard for respect as teams not ranked. who didn't love the Oregon game...never heard anyone complaining that preseason ranking were crap

A bunch of people were saying preseason rankings were crap before this past season.

2018 was a good season that I was happy with and still am. I just don't understand giving a coach a raise for one good season. It seems we are taking a step in the right direction, but I would like to see him improve on our record in 2019 or at least another top 10 finish before a raise is given.
if we take a "wait and see" approach for next year and he "IMPROVES"- remembering that we finished in the top 7- then his raise might be a lot higher. After all, we'd no longer be talking about an unproven guy with a losing record, we'd be talking about a guy with consecutive Top 10 finishes trending upwards. That would put him in lofty territory.

We weren’t the second best team in the country which was our best ranking
We were average

O Pumpers thought the polls were idiots for having us low.
But preseason rankings don’t matter.
Miami wasn’t a top 10 team.
People just thought they were.

I'm asking this honestly because I don't know the answer. When was the last time LSU was ranked that low in a preseason poll? I think the overwhelming thought behind it was that if we win then we will go up in the rankings. I don't think it had anything to do with Coach O.

They actually believe this years fiesta bowl is a BCS level bowl lol. Not surprising when you consider the other things that bowl game was called by these people. I’ve seen people say it was the single most important game in history because it would shape the future of the playoff model lol. The pumpers should’ve informed the rest of the world about this historic game because they didn’t seem too interested in it. This years fiesta bowl had a low attendance and tv audience compared to previous years, for comparison our game did an 8.5 the Rose Bowl between Ohio St. and Washington did 16.8. It was also called the greatest non national title game win since the early 60s at LSU. And Ben tries to say the people he doesn’t agree with twist themselves into pretzels and do mental gymnastics lmfao. Nobody practices projection and hypocrisy more than that guy and his personal assistant.
I had Pout and Gargle tell me that beating Auburn this year was an historic win. My mind was blown. Thats how far the goalposts have been moved to accommodate this staff. Beating a team that finished with 5 losses is now historic.

Where a tema finished has always been more important than what they were pre season.

I mean, do you really want to hang your hat on a "Top 10 Win Against Miami?" In retrospect, that was not a big win.
And no one does, from either side, because I think every person realizes how mediocre of a win that was. The problem comes in when we get specific, when people ignore the facts.

Miami's defense was ranked #18 if I remember correctly. That's still not a pushover. LSU'S SOS was still around #3.
LSU played the teams on the schedule.
MsState I think their defense was ranked #2
UCF defense was top 20
LSU'S schedule wasn't an easy one.

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and assume you meant UF.
UCF was one of the worst defenses LSU went up against all season. Ole Miss honestly fields a better defense.

You are correct. I misread it. UCF is at 36.

Not even close.
Ole miss #114 in total defense.

It's not cool to just make stuff up to fit your narrative. Thought you would have learned this by now, after looking like a fool on almost a daily basis.
