Oregon vs. LSU featured on 30 game 2011 CFB Project / Journey

LSU and Oregon fans,
I'm going to bottom-line my request right now, then add a little background for those who may (or may not) want a long-read.
For the 2011 College Football Season, I will be traveling to 30 games in 87 days, in an attempt to document the excitement, enthusiasm, pageantry, rivalry & competition of College Football which I feel is unmatched elsewhere in the world of sport.
Game #2 is - Oregon vs. LSU - at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, September 3rd.
I am seeking a few recommendations for tailgating parties that I can take some brief video segments at, as well as still-photography, all to be posted on the website / blog. I'm looking to feature a few tailgating parties, as well as a few "interesting personalities" (you know, those lively, crazy, fun fans that make game-days so interesting).
If you can provide me any tips or recommendations regarding the above request (or if have any questions for me or want to know more about me), either ask on this thread or e-mail me at:
CFBtraveler@gmail.com
or
info@thursdaytosaturday.com
Thanks so much!!!
JP

Ok, more about myself and this project...
Just last Friday, I had a rather significant transition in my life. I went from being an Engineer on Space Shuttle at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, to being one of thousands of technicians, seamstresses, astronaut-trainers, managers and other engineers, that were laid off due to the ending of America's Space Shuttle Program in July. But my layoff was six days before the start of the 2011 College Football Season.
So, my future is a bit uncertain, but my Fall 2011 plans are solid... I've been saving up a few bucks and I am now embarking on a Monster College Football Road Trip!! The itinerary is simple: go to every Thursday game and then on Saturdays, go to a "nearby" game. My wife is cool with this plan so I have no reason not to do it (she'll be flying-in two or three times along the way to San Francisco/Berkeley, Boston College, etc.).
I’ll be meeting-up with students and alumni at each campus and shooting representative videos (and still shots) at various tailgating parties and during each game and then post / blog the experiences online.
Myself and two friends created a website, which is nearly complete (maybe 70%), and of course its awaiting actual season-content, so please keep that in mind when critiquing:
[link=(www.ThursdaytoSaturday.com)]www.ThursdaytoSaturday.com[/link]
edit: that link won't work, for some reason, when linked off of The Rant. Try pasting this URL:
www.ThursdaytoSaturday.com
We're finishing-up the FaceBook & Twitter accounts over the next couple days also! I'll post those here and at the main link above, for those who wish to follow the project / journey.
Well, I guess that's it. I've been planning this since June (and dreaming of it for longer), so wish me luck... and please point me to a few representative tailgating parties at Cowboys Stadium for Saturday.
Thanks,
JP
P.S. my trek will take me to FOUR LSU games this season, including the last regular-season game in Baton Rouge (vs. Arkansas on the day after Thanksgiving) so you'll see more of me on here and more of the LSU atmosphere featured at the website above.

Sounds cool man, good luck!

I think its awesome what you're doing, and while this game is going to be of epic proportion, i whish you could make it to UF @ LSU or AU @ LSU. Only then, would you get the full effect of Tiger tailgating. Be safe on your journeys

find rosco (sp?) and evil twin. They're probably the most famous tailgating personalities.

A Saturday night in Death Valley is the pinnacle of the college football experience. Your journey would not be complete without it.
UF or Aub are your best bets for this year.

Thanks for the tips and well-wishes!! I've actually been to Tiger Stadium on a few big game nights, so no arguments about its atmosphere.
My season-schedule is set, and due to the "geography and logistics" of the Thursday ESPN slate, I cannot swing by Baton Rouge until late-November (after Thanksgiving night's Texas at Texas A&M game).
But I will see the Tigers and fans in Arlington, Starkville and Morgantown

colorchangintiger -- any suggestions on finding Rosco and/or Evil Twin?? My e-mail contact info is in the 'original post' if anyone can pass it along. Thanks!

or Arkansas
He's going to the Arkansas game according to his website, but it's a day game and historically a low turnout because of Thanksgiving.

catching up on some posts I haven't responded to yet...
Draconian Sanctions -- huh?? Are you telling my post is too long or what? Just curious.
sland36 -- thank you for the well-wishes!
USLttarP -- not sure if you are laughing at me or with me
NicoBlues -- Thanks again for the kind words!
colorchangintiger -- I appreciate the tip. Can ya help me find those guys?
Mahootney -- it shall be Arkansas-LSU... I am tied to the ESPN Thursday schedule. And best of luck for the New Orleans plans!
loweralabamatrojan -- thanks for the interest!! I'm glad to know you will be following me!
Rainman & jeepfreak -- not to beat a dead horse here but... I've seen Tiger Stadium night-games and they are phenomenal. No argument there. I've actually been to quite a few at LSU and to games in every other SEC venue, plus maybe 15 or 20 other CFB stadiums. But there are zero Tiger Stadium night games for me this year because of the "geography & logistics" of the 2011 ESPN Thursday Night slate. All Saturday games will be "reasonably close" to the prior Thursday game. Which means I will be in Starkville for LSU at MSU and I will be in Morgantown for LSU at WVU (two days after NC State at Cincy)
But for now, I'd love it if we could focus this thread a bit more on the beginning of the 2011 CFB Season (Oregon vs. LSU) and not the end of the season. That countdown above is getting awfully close to zero
THANKS all!!!!

I'm not sure if the original poster will be glad or mad at me for jumping in on this thread but I'm gonna do it anyway. I think his full story is quite notable.
CFBtraveler happens to be the LSU student (back in 1997) who brought the student section to a frenzy prior to the Florida game by swiping the huge “Work ‘em silly Gators” sign from those two idiots from #1 ranked Florida, and then he made the mad dash into the student section. I’m not sure if that event had any impact on our monumental victory that night, but I know it sure did help keep me and the rest of the student-section pumped up through kickoff.
If I had the time and means to do a trip like this, I would be all over it like he is doing. I’ve known JP (CFBtraveler) for nearly 20 years and its hard for me to name someone who enjoys college football more than he does. He's a huge LSU fan, but has traveled all over the country to attend various non-LSU games for the past 10+ years or so, just to expand his NCAA football experience beyond the SEC. I know he has been to games at West Virginia, Army (West Point), Rice, Houston, Minnesota, Tulsa and the Army-Navy Game in the past three years or so.
CFBtraveler... good luck finding some good hangouts in DFW.
Geaux Tigers!

Best of your luck on the journey. That's awesome and I'm truly jealous. I'm sure (crosses fingers) that you will find LSU fans to be some of the most hospitable fans in the country.
