When was your last year?

I thought that was a lot longer ago than 08.

Info came from LSU director of bands, Roy King.

Director of ATHLETIC Bands.

Donald McKinney is Director of Bands, specifically the "Director of Wind Ensembles and Conducting."

King should consider himself fortunate since LSU quite possibly broke University and state laws by NOT conducting a search/interview process for the position of "Director of Athletic Bands. They just appointed him straight out without even advertising the position.

Can you imagine the publicity and uproar if this would have happened in football? Les Miles leaves LSU and the AD just appoints one of the assistant coaches on the staff to take over as head coach. No way that would ever be accepted.

Nope. UO has tons of money. Just school starts later over here is all and too hard to organize the band for the trip.

Damn hijacking band nerds.

Remember when we traveled to Washington? Their alumni had to step in and play the game bc school wasn't in session for the hippies on the west coast.

10 snares, 5 tenors, 6 bass drums, 8 cymbals = 29
Pretty much what it is now.

You trying to make it a high school drumline.

I agree with other Duck poster. I like our fight song and a few other things they play. But our band is tiny anyways and in all honesty, I don't think hardly a Duck fan cares about our Band. If is at a game- great. If not- we could care less. And I really cant think of a time where the band pumped up the game for us. Our fans do that on our own screaming "OOOOOOOOOOOO" when on Defense the whole time while lifting our hands up in the sign of a "O". Our cheerleaders missing however would have to be breaking some kind of Oregon law, lol. Not having them would be criminal.

Piccolos shouldn't even be in the band

WRONG! Piccolos add the top edge, the extreme highs in the frequency spectrum. Unlike the clarinets and saxes, you CAN hear the piccolos.

as long as they kept tone quality and didn't turn into Southern 2.0

AMEN! Southern Bands tone...totally out of control.....wide open volume.....no dynamics or should I say one dymanic...FFFFF.....sooo out of tune....tubas sound like a heard of elephants farting....The Human Pukebox.

There are many great college bands but none more loved and appreciated by their fans than the Golden Band from Tigerland.

college is about traditions and pagentry. OU should find a way to bring some sort of band. Kind of a shame if you ask me.

KUDOS to the administration of UO and the Music Department for making the decision NOT to bring the band to Dallas.

I bet the tuition at UO is more reasonable than at LSU since they can make responsible decisions not to spend money needlessly.

They should put the fight song and other music on videotape and play on the giant screen in Jerry's House. Same affect.
