Guys, I'll take the blame for the popped collar look. I was getting burned out there and popped my collar for a few minutes to keep the sun off my neck. Don't hate.
Someone should have cooled you off by throwing a beer on you.

Two points. True hippies don't like football. These were the kids that did not have much success in sports growing up that like to gang up on athletes for being dumb brutes (another so called moral victory). Which for however tolerant they claim to be, does not coincide with their so called tolerant views. Two, you think a true hippy would waste their pot and lsd money to travel to dallas? Nope. The douchey fair weather fans, are those that may or may not have attended Oregon, but nonetheless are Oregonians that have a lot of money and not so much a realistic world view.

True. There are very few "hippies" anywhere, anymore. Those people that get called hippies are usually posers.

Not sure about ya'll, but I didn't go to the game to make friends and drink tea. I went to watch my team light up the backfield and drink bourbon.
Can't we just get back to discussing how brilliant this post is?

one must remember this wasn't tiger stadium.....and i would say most tiger fans wished JJ STARTED he's more seasoned and a tab better than jlee I think all fans would have love to see the new kid start....for most tiger fans have the utmost respect for THE OTHER TEAMS fans and enjoy the rival......sorry for a few unruly fans but most colleges have them.....oregons a great team AND MOST LSU FANS HAVE THE UTMOST RESPECT

Yep, most work in academia, the gubment or some "non profit." The hippy was semi nomadic and lived on communes when the settled.

People misuse the term "hippie". Like you said, there aren't very many around these days.

Remember them when I was a kid. People today who eat organic, do new age stuff and wear tie die are not "hippies." I know a couple of real hippies around here, fun people to hang out with.

It was a pretty standard LSU crowd. Nothing out of the ordinary. Took over, ate and drank all day, made noise in the stadium, celebrated like fools when it was all said and done.
I was witness to a little good humored shennanigans. Like tossing of bread crumbs to passing duck fans and there were a lot of duck calls in use. I don't think they appreciated much of the teasing or celebrating.

They really aren't use to it. The whole football culture and tailgating is different up here. Of course, they counter with "we have better things to do with our time."
The level of intoxication is exponentially greater among LSU fans (and some other fan bases in the south) than it us in the NW, or West.
