Eric Ponamsky was on 104.5 ESPNRadio on LSU Media Day with Jordy Culotta. He said on the air that Tommy Moffitt told him that Chavis wouldn't say it, but that the 40 time was in the high 4.4 range.
Radio =/= Internet, nor a thread on TD.com
It was a hand timed 40 as well, right? Everyone runs a fast hand timed forty. Btw, do really believe Kendrick Adams runs a high 4.4? Seriously.
The reason why Chavis won't go on record is because it's not legit.

I expect Adams to run in the mid 4.5s when he tests for the combine. I don't expect him to break the magical 4.4 barrier. It doesn't take anything away from him...

So I gave you the source of the information I shared, & whereas before you were saying that it was coming from "a thread on f***ing Tigerdroppings," now you're still saying its not legit because our S&C Coach said it, & not our DC?
Strange that I didn't hear our DC talk about any specific weightlifting or speed numbers, & yet our S&C Coach posts them on Posterous & on Twitter routinely via pictures & actual press-releases.
Strange indeed.
Why don't you just stop typing for a bit. Sit the next few plays out, Champ.

What Scout/Rivals and Chip Kelly says about 40 times is an absolute fact, unless Rivals/Scout has a time listed that isn't to an Oregon fan's liking...then it's just BS.

MOT, you know and I know that hand time 40's are a bunch of bunk. I am sure that Adams has fabuluous speed. He could've played TE for crying out loud. However, that doesn't mean that Jordan isn't as fast. Jordan was a WR, TE, DE prospect out of high school, a 4* recruit, and offered by Nebraska, Oregon and Michigan out of Arizona. He ran the best 110 meter hurdle in high school in Arizona and he has been in one of the best S&C programs at D1, as well. Do I believe the 4.6 Jordan runs more than the hand timed 4.4 that Adams ran at media day? Hell yes...it fits the bill, dude.

So in short, Kelly is telling the truth and our coaches are full of shite. Thanks for the more detailed explanation.

Do you believe his time was legit or hand timed? That is my question. My point is not whether he ran the 4.4 and that is what the stop watch said that day. It's whether it was a legit time. Just an FYI, I would have a hard time believing that time for any 255 pound person.

I don't know. I should probably defer to Coach Kelly on this one
I haven't seen or heard a fan base so obsessed with downplaying the speed/skill/toughness advantage of LSU (and top tier SEC teams in general), and go so far to try to convince themselves that they're really on the same level, since Ohio State prior to the championship game. This isn't directed only at you but that's the way the blog reads to me.

"SEC speed" is legit, but Oregon's speed is no less so. You'll probably be surprised if you think that LSU has a speed advantage.

Fish Duck is probably the best UO blogger/poster around. I hate this blog, but he does actually know a thing or two about football.

MOT, remember the VaTech'ers Farking our rosters to show that every single player was Glenn Dorsey, as if they "didn't know defense" and that we were "Glen Dorsey & a bunch of nobodies"?
What happened after they got beat the frick down 45-7, & had to score a replay TD on 4th & Goal just to lose the goosegg?
I'm feeling more and more confident the more I read from UO fans.

From someone who has watched the players work out, LSU S&C has their own laser set up that they bring out for timing. I'm pretty sure Moffit wouldn't mention a bs 40 when it takes 5 minutes to set up the laser timers in the indoor
Posted on 8/15/11 at 1:37 pm to Hargrove Phigaroon
Oregon's offense has been shut down by the last two legit defenses it faced (Ohio State and Auburn). I expect LSU to do the same. I'll be shocked if Oregon scores more than 20 points.

That makes it more believable. However, why did someone in here mention a bunch of 4.2 hand timed 40's from the dbs? Just sayn' it sounds like they hand time the kids too. Anyway, I never downplayed the speed of LSU. I am just saying that Oregon can prepare for it with their own players.

Buckeye - I predicted Oregon scores 14 for what it's worth. However, I do expect a competitive game. Oregon was competitive with tOSU and Auburn. We lost by 9 and 3 points. LSU fans here are thinking they are going to run with this game. One thing I can say about Oregon even in their losses is that they will compete.
The oline will be good for Oregon and a step up from the last years. However, I expect mistakes and it won't be due to talent or speed but mental errors because of experience.
