I'm not disagreeing with the possible final score, but with the author's grave ignorance of this LSU team (e.g Josh Downs being our most experienced DL, LB & DB corps being so overwhelmed

He didn't say that Db corp would be overwhelmed. He is just noting that the 4th and 5th options on our team will be matchup issues.

It's funny to me. Who cares what some homer Duck says on a blog? Geez, if I got my panties in a bunch over predictions here, I'd be spinning.

But this game will be no SEC punt-a-thon, no run, run, pass, punt borefest that comes down to a bounced fake field goal or too many men on the field on the last play of the game.

An article mentions this and you wonder why we mock it? really?

His article basically says for no reason given that Oregon is going to play the game of the decade citing the final drive against Cal (ignoring the other 58 minutes).

And LSU is a confused mess at lb? Really? DL hasnt played as a unit but three changes on the Ore Oline is simply nauseating garbage?

And mismatches with our Defensive backs? Really? of all positions to try to point to a mismatch, he goes db?!?

Yeah, garbage that is appropriately getting treated like garbage.

I think most people are gaining entertainment out of this article.

Do you happen to realize how message boards work? If you dont care, why didnt you open the thread about it and post many times. Perhaps because that is what you do on message boards?

I just now checked the Stats and AU had the #1 SEC rush Defense.

The reason why was that Auburn had a barely middling pass defense, so of course every team with a passing game ran just enough to keep them honest.

That game was not as close as the score.

It was mentioned earlier, but I'll say it again. I view this as a game very much like the Va Tech game a few years ago.

No one is disputing Oregon has good skill players, but how can you run or set and pass when you're getting hit in the backfield? Oregon is SOFT...I said it. They play a speed/misdirection game, then someone lines up and hits them in the mouth they can't respond. The Pac-12 is built around offense, SEC wins title after title after title because of our defenses and athleticism in the trenches. It will be no difference in Jerryworld...It will be fun to see the meltdown of Oregon fans.

Oregon's style is designed to exploit weakness and I think it is the best in the country at doing that. But when they face a talented defense, the do get neutralized.

When they go OOC against quality opponents, their results reflect that neutralization. They were Boise's bitch 2 years in a row, Ohio state, auburn etc.... Their big OOC wins in the past few years? Okie State who hasnt had a defense ever.

Butt - I think this is where you're wrong. We have lots of athleticism in our oline and dline.

LSU has an impressive tradition. They’re a good football team with plenty of talent, solidly coached. But this game will be no SEC punt-a-thon, no run, run, pass, punt borefest that comes down to a bounced fake field goal or too many men on the field on the last play of the game. The Ducks will be precise, elusive and efficient. On key. On point. In unison. Disciplined and sharp. They’ll execute like no team LSU has ever seen before, and require them to defend every inch of the field.

That's alot of SEC shite-talking for a team that just got whooped by an SEC team.

It's cemented firmly in the players' minds.

Bison, nobody doubts your teams athleticism in the trenches, but they lack the size. Our lineman are bigger and just as athletic. But you will have a retort, and the road goes on forever and the party never ends. But come Sept. 4, Ill be eating duck and you'll be eating crow. You going to the game?

Good point.

In 07 Tech got their asses beaten very badly. I work in the DC metro area and know quite a few Tech grads, and they still talk about it today. Last week I talked with a Tech grad and he said that game was when he realized Tech was good but just not a contender.

Why? Because Tech that year was good enough to be #3 in the polls going into bowl season. They were a nationally good team and didn't get a title shot because they got crushed by LSU 48-7. Otherwise they had an outstanding year.

Similar argument with Hawaii-Georgia a few years ago. Hawaii had had an enormously successful season and got their asses kicked by a bigger and more physical Georgia line.

Guys - Oregon is not VaTech or Hawaii in the trenches. VaTech got pummelled in the trenches by Stanford this year.

Like against Boise, and then Boise, and then Ohio State and then Auburn.

Spin it anyway you want, your OOC record against quality has been weak over the past few years.

What does what Vtech did last year against Stanford have to do with a game in 08?

Show me your quality OOC wins in the past few years and we will start from there.
