I think it had more to do with a new QB thrown into the mix at the last minute.
Drops were less frequent toward seasons end

It's been linked before. I forgot where from, but BJ has a valid point on the drops and how they can be drive killers. IMO, it has more to do with bad WR coaching hires than reps on jugs machines. Let's hope that Joe Brady can rectify the situation.

LSU hasn't had an elite route runner since Beckham and Landry. That's on coaching.
I don't care if you put in 10,000 reps a day on a jugs machine, if you can't get separation it's more difficult to complete passes.

I'll mark you down as perfectly content with the 57th worst drop rate in Power-5 football.
And I'll concede that LSU could well have been mediocre in drops if you adjust for the early season issue.

You would be wrong. I was very vocal about the drops
I have a reasonable explanation while you're just making a wild guess.

What you fail to realize is that a HOF WR has that in them to go get the reps one way or the other.
You can't turn someone into a HOF by making them do 10 million reps if that intrinsic desire to be great isn't in them.
The lackluster performance of our WRs is a group failure, mostly on them, partly on Jeaux for not inspiring his troops, and partly on the HC because ultimately he is responsible for everything.

Catching a football at an elite level is a virtuoso skill. It has to be practiced every day. Funny how all the best WRs have done this for the past 50+ years (and the hacks practice a little here and there, when they feel like it)

So chemistry and timing have nothing to do with catching a football

So did I. Prove me wrong.
And I know that you either have the desire to improve your skills or you don't.
If the WRs don't want to get the extra reps in, and the QB doesn't want to drag them to the practice field, and the HC doesn't instill in these guys what it takes to master their craft, you think it then falls on the S&C coach to whip them into shape?

However, WR/QB time is extremely limited. And a WR needs to work on the 12 or so basic catches every day. At least 100 reps.
Just like a PGA pro works on his skill-set every day; and a concert pianist works on his skill-set every day.

1) No way any QB should throw 100 reps a day to a dozen or more receivers. Pitch counts matter to QBs too.
2) A S&C coach COULD order WRs to take reps as part of the 10 hours per week permitted by the NCAA - but it appears that Moffitt hasn't made the choice to do so.
3) In the alternative, the WRs can practice voluntarily (in addition to the 10 hours), but the S&C coach has to make the Jugs easily available - it also appears that Moffitt has not made the choice to do so.

What if we set up a GoFundMe to buy a few jugs machines and fans could volunteer for time slots 24/7 to make the machines available on the parade ground for any WR or TE who wanted to use them?

How do you reach this conclusion?
