At least you are not denying that there is a glaring problem
Has anyone denied that WR play has been a problem since O has been here? Where people get upset is when others attempt to say he is ultimately to blame because he hires the WR coach.

And probably the absolute easiest to fix. Get the kids their reps.
You have no idea if standing in front of a jugs machine will help these guys run the right, precise routes and be where they're supposed to be when they're supposed to be there. You have no clue if they're scared to catch the ball over the middle. Maybe they can't get off press man coverage. There are a multitude of things that can contribute to poor WR play.

Most Jugs routines involve catches at "points on the compass". Very high, very low, very behind the WR, and very in front... and the points in between. These are all mechanically different catches.
There is also a strength and muscle memory advantage to mega-reps. The ball is usually coming in at a speed so that the ball hits the hands "weighing" 20 to 25 pounds at impact. Takes a lot of reps to make a low and behind catch a "routine move" - same with most of the other catches.

So the jugs machines need to be available and someone to catch balls and shoot them back at him
I dont Think most schools have this available all the time.
There is probably a reason appointments are made. To make sure someone is there to shoot balls at them.

I haven’t used a Jug machine since high school and my wife and five year old remark all the time about how I catch everything. Just throw it in my direction and I’ll catch it. Beer, keys, remote, bread loaf, whatever.
Explain that since I don’t use the jug machine anymore, smart guy.

And I'd bet the farm that Bama and Clemson do - looking at the circus catches their WRs made all season in'18.

According to what?

Os future here is linked to Brady’s ability to modernize our offense and make it more productive. That’s it in a nutshell. He and Ensminger don’t have a clue how to improve the offense on their own. If the hire proves to be successful, O will be applauded and rewarded, if not, his days are numbered. We’ve had great recruiting classes, been ranked in the top 10 to 20, won 9 or 10 games- all of that quite frequently in the recent past. But something Miles didn’t do was modernize the offense. O promised he would. We’ll know for sure this season.

quote:according to Urban Meyer being a Jugs machine freak. He once fired Tom Herman for not getting the WRs Jugs reps (rehired him right away when Herman saw the light)
According to what?
Posted the link to that a week or so ago.

I just can’t agree that losing to only Bama and Florida is underachieving. That’s losing to our two best opponents both of which will be top 10 teams and one of which will likely be a top 2 team in the country.
What did you think of losing to Auburn and Florida on the road in 2006? Both were Top 5 teams when we played and Florida went on to win the title. Was 2006 underachieving...?
Should we ask the room, because I'm PRETTY SURE folks still look back at that year as one of the biggest misses in Miles' tenure?

How many jugs machines does LSU have? How many reps per day does each skill position player get?
Posted on 7/29/19 at 2:30 pm to Buckeye Jeaux
Where does it say they have 30 jugs machines with operators 24/7?

quote:Agreed, if it wasn't for a 29 year old assistant with zero experience running an offense, LSU would be screwed.

Buckeye has no clue. He is blowing smoke.... he has never seen one LSU workout.....

LSU hasn’t been screwed since the 90s
We’re not worried about being “screwed”
But we’re always going to be limited if we can’t get then offense going.

How are your Longhorn pom poms coming along, Dookie? Still pimping Texas over LSU in a "shocking" beat down?
