To he fair, Orgeron hasn't changed at all considering the offense so far at LSU. Hopefully he lets E and Brady do there thing this season.

I said when he was hired that I didn’t like the hire but worst case scenario is he’s out in 3-4 years and leaves a cupboard full of talent for the next guy.

He has definitely exceeded my expectations for him as a coach but I’m still waiting to see if he meets my expectations for the program.

So far so good but he’s going to have to prove it this year.

Like what?

LSU has averaged 5 conference wins for the last six years, obtaining that exact number 4 out of 6 times. I like the momentum we have going into this year, but pump the brakes. Until we get back to 10-2 (6-2) regular seasons being the floor, people are going to look longingly at other coaches.

At Ole Miss he admittedly forced the USC offense on his OC. The Matt Canada is well documented. Then last year he actually had Ensminger build the offense he wanted. We've pretty much all agreed that the offense at the end of the season was different than the end of the year and that that's what Ensminger wants to run. So, why was he running different stuff at the beginning of the season?

If the offense comes out struggling in the first 2 games, are we all positive that Orgeron won't try to dial back the offense again? I think if he lets those guys do their thing that we have a legit shot at an West Championship and a shot at the playoffs.

Les Miles averaged over ten wins a season for his entire tenure and was fired because he wasn't getting the Tigers in contention anymore. I hope O succeeds, but I'm not going to get fired up for a guy who just had an average Les Miles season. Call me when LSU is in serious contention for a playoff spot and I'll sign off on Orgeron.

Here is my problem. We could win the National Championship this year and you would find a way to not give credit to O. And that’s a fact.

I think Goldrush would give credit for any kind of hardware. That's just my opinion though. He seems to be kind of like me and very hard on coaches.

Maybe we will. There are those on this board that would say the pieces fell into his lap and he got lucky in finding Joe Brady. I can see it now.

I’ve been extremely critical of him but the arrow is pointing up. I really would like to see 11-1 this year.

Change just for the sake of change isn't great. There needs to be changed with a purpose. I'm happy he's willing to continuously revisit the offense, but this is the third offensive scheme we've had in three years. To be honest he should have known exactly what he wanted to do when he walked through that door as the head coach 2 years ago. That way in 2019 when we have the talent and the schedule, all the players would have been running the same offensive system for the past two years and been extremely familiar with it. Instead we're sitting here praying that Brady is actually legit and that the offense is going to work when in reality none of us know if it actually will.

I wanted him to walk in with a plan like Mullen, Fisher or Herman. Not throw shite at a wall each year and see what sticks.

anything more than 2 losses in the regular season is a failure

Nick Saban is on the hottest streak of any Coach ever.
Coach O is in that division.
Until we beat Nick no NegaO will start to believe.

I agree with this. And Saban has been on that hot streak since the 2008 season. Finishing in the top 10 every season since that year. Coach o isn't the only coach who's had to go against Saban and his Bama teams since that run started.

He's the only active SEC Coach to beat Saban.

To deny the LSU program trending upward right now is intellectually dishonest.

You're right. 9-4 in 2017 versus 10-3 in 2018 is an upward trend. However, 6-2 in the SEC in 2017 versus 5-3 in the SEC in 2018 is not an upward trend.

He’s done an amazing job recruiting and has surrounded himself with an excellent coaching staff.

And in a month or so, we'll see if he can do an amazing job winning games, which is all that counts.

2017 was a much more experienced and talented offense than 2018. 2018 was a more difficult schedule (UGA vs UT). LSU did more with less in 2018.

You make a valid point, but my question was why did we fire Miles if we were content with 9-10 win seasons and second place division finishes? We were already getting that.

I’ve seen this point made on here and I think it’s a bit of a misrepresentation of what’s happened the last few years with LSU football.

Miles went 5-3, 4-4, 5-3, 1-1 in the SEC before being fired. His last game, the loss @ Auburn, we dropped out of the rankings the following Monday when Orgeron was named interim HC. We are now preseason #7. The program is in a much better position now than we were that Monday post-Auburn 2016.
