Here's my list of programs who ALSO think they should be in the playoffs EVERY season:

Michigan

With Harbaugh? He's hot and cold. He could be doing great then the team losses 4 straight. If he was more consistent with wins, I'd agree.

quote:

Ohio State

Shocker.

quote:

Texas

Not sure about a playoff contender but they sure shouldn't be taken for granted.

quote:

Texas A&M

Eh

quote:

Alabama

Obviously.

quote:

Penn St

With them losing McSorely, not sure.

quote:

USC

quote:

Georgia

I agree

quote:

Clemson

Definitely

quote:

Washington

Browning is gone, now it's in the hands of UGA transfer Jacob Eason. We'll see.

Peterson is a really good coach though.

quote:

Florida

Lot of stuff hovering over that program.

quote:

Florida St

No way. That program is in bad shape. Taggart has to do better. Not that I care about that program but that program is held to some high standards, and it should be.

Oregon

Orgeron has done as good as anybody could possibly expect any coach to do at LSU with what he had to work with.

LSU had the talent to win 11 games in 2016, 10 games in 2017 and 11 games in 2018 all in the regular season. Talent has not been an issue since Orgeron took over. I agree that it wasn't a championship caliber roster, but it wasn't some lackluster team like some people try to say it was. Think of the close losses we had in those three years and you will see that we had the talent to win all except Bama and we just got thoroughly outplayed and outcoached on both sides of the ball at State in '17.

Not saying they ARE playoff contenders. I'm saying they THINK they are playoff contenders.

This needs to be a made into a neon blinking sign.

There is no talent loss.

The concern is with the decision making of the HC. It seems like he plays scared.

Sad that I have to put this disclaimer out all the time but it just seems that way. I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me. Stop playing down to teams and then get in a hole and THEN try to get out of it.

It's not the best mindset to have. And a lot of coaches do it, this isn't exclusive to O.

Well to be fair, no one knows who are actual playoff contenders. I will say though that most of your list isn't.

A few are definitively in it, barring some catastrophe. But I don't want to split hairs.

There's no way of knowing at this point.

Done for the night.

He probably was scared. There were some serious talent and scheme deficits in the last couple seasons. I think the vast majority of those problems are solved for 2019. And I think O played his cards as well as anyone could in '18.

And again, all these team's fans think they should win it every year.

Sometimes the ball just bounces the wrong way as well in close games. But, I detest playing down to lesser competition. It was one of my biggest complaints about Miles.

For a HC to play scared in the SEC is not a good look for said HC. Your "sources" have no info on this?

He has talent all over the sideline so what's he have to be scared of? His decision making? That's the only thing I can surmise from it. Quit playing down to teams and go and get it done. He says the same thing to the players all the time. Hold the coach to the same expectations. I don't think that's being unreasonable.

He knows and has admitted what is expected at LSU.

Other than Bama, which losses under O would you say we're due to a talent deficit?

Well he only has last year to look at since that's Burrow's first year here. Before that he was all tOSU.

This is why I take what he says with a grain of salt.

I'm out for the night. Have fun.

Yup. The same thing that is EXPECTED at EVERY major football program.

Difference is that Orgeron has a puncher's chance of actually doing it this season. Most of those other programs have no chance.

So then what's your problem with me or anyone else for that matter, pointing out concerns when such high expectations are expected?

People post concerns about that and you're quick to rush to "they're time is running out and they'll find out soon and all that nonsense."

You just admitted to having my same concerns. If I'm an O Basher, as you say, wouldn't that make you one because we have the same expectations?

In '18, Florida and A&M. Sorry, but absolutely no excuse for the WR drops in both those games. LSU was razor thin in experience at the WR position.

BS

I can think of 5 WRs that all had catches in that game. Hardly being razor thin.

Here we go with the JUGS again.

How typical. Painted into a corner and you resort to that.

Why would you answer that question. If I'm wrong then you're wrong because we both agreed on the same thing.

Stepped in it yet again.

This time I am done.
