Good for you.
This is his year to do it. This team is absolutely loaded with talent. He'll lose a lot of players after this season.

bullshite first of all, but even if, he’s getting 7.5 million for 10 years, O is getting 4 million for 4 years.
You're proving that Orgeron isn't judged as harshly as coaches who are proven winners just from your "mindless per usual" post above.

Most of the criticism he receives is valid, but a fairly large segment here quickly makes an attempt to refute these legitimate claims.
Normally you and I agree on almost everything, but I've been seeing a lot of criticism of Coach O lately that's linked to his 2017 season that absolutely deserved the criticism. From my point of view, his 2018 season made up for a lot of that setting up for a "wait and see" season in 2019.
The only issue I see that could possibly hold us back is the offensive dynamic with O, E and Brady. None of the 3 have ever put up the kind of record breakong offensive numbers people have been talking about. Neither has Burrow for that matter. That's not to say they can't, but we're asking 4 different people to do something they've never done before. I don't think it's a situation where it's just gonna happen out of the gate. There may be growing pains and that's where Orgeron has told the OC to scale things back in the past. Let's hope we come out swinging and lighting up the scoreboard early.

I think UCF was overrated but I do give O credit for getting to a NY6 bowl.
When you consider what we were missing on defense and the UCF QB put up 40+ points in the previous game, I give the entire coaching staff a ton of credit. I think it was a great win.

No question. My one thing about that game is that if Mackenzie Milton would have played, it would've been a different game. I still think we would've won but Milton is a really good QB, his back up, not so much.
Still a very good win in my opinion, it's a NY6 game and I'm happy with it. I'm not trying to downplay it by any means.

Agreed. 110+ other programs would swap our record last year for theirs.
This is true. However, those schools don't have the expectations, talent, fan base, money, fertile recruiting state all to themselves or facilities that LSU has. It's not really a fair comparison. Finishing #6 in the poll is a very good season, but that's not what LSU football is striving for.

Same is if we didn't have WRs playing CB.

I got roasted last season for saying that I hoped Emery signed when he committed. It was a completely honest and innocent statement, but a few turned it into me saying that I meant that Orgeron couldn't keep him. It was hilarious.

I got the same treatment just because I said this isn't what fans expect from LSU. Even Orgeron himself has said it.
I don't understand why it almost always turns into an "us vs them" thing.
Everybody here is pulling for the same team but at the same time, they're willing to lose their minds over someone having a different opinion. It's really strange.
I get being passionate about the Tigers but I honestly can't remember it being so volatile like it has been on here.
Praying all this nonsense stops once we get to actual football season.

You have a problem with that?
How many two loss seasons (no ties) have we had in the past 50 years?
What you're doing is setting the plate to criticize a two loss team
What does any of this have to do with what I posted?
Quit trying to make the post about something that it wasn't. The only point I was making was that Orgeron is judged against his own past versus the LSU standard.

I'm making a concerted effort to switch into season mode and to stop messing with people so much like it's still the off-season. But, some of these guys make it difficult.

quote:I Hear this a lot, and LSU is Big-Time football, but so are a dozen+ other programs. And yes, Louisiana has a ton of talent, but I wouldn't say there is no competition in the SEC for recruiting Louisiana talent. And LSU is not alone in having available cash. In fact, I can't think of a major program who does not have generous billionaire donor/boosters.
However, those schools don't have the expectations, talent, fan base, money, fertile recruiting state all to themselves or facilities that LSU has.
Here's my list of programs who ALSO think they should be in the playoffs EVERY season:
Michigan
Ohio State
Texas
Texas A&M
Alabama
Notre Dame
Oklahoma
Penn St
USC
Georgia
Clemson
Washington
Florida
Florida St
Oregon
Just sayin'
And all but maybe 2 or 3 teams on that list have won as many or more Natty's than LSU.

Agreed. But, that isn't 110+ schools like the other poster was saying. By instate competition, I was simply pointing out that there isn't another P5 school in LA to compete with LSU. Last I heard LA had more blue chip prospects per capita than any other state. That may have changed, but that is a HUGE advantage for LSU.

Orgeron has done as good as anybody could possibly expect any coach to do at LSU with what he had to work with. This season we will be very good and he should get everybody's respect finally after we whip much arse in 2019. Then, our recruiting class will be finalized and I expect him to be in the top 3 there. I just don't know what some of our idiot fans honestly expected our teams to accomplish since he's been our hc full time? We had serious problems to deal with lack of depth, experience, and talent at key positions. He's doing as well as anyone could have up to this point. Like I said, hopefully yall will finally give the man credit after we trott out this monster of team this season. Geaux Tigers.

quote:Probably a much bigger advantage 10 or 20 years ago. There used to be a gentleman's agreement among most (not all) HCs about recruiting out of state. But now, almost all HCs will go anywhere to fight for a recruit.
Last I heard LA had more blue chip prospects per capita than any other state. That may have changed, but that is a HUGE advantage for LSU.
And Florida, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and lately the mid-Atlantic states are brimming with talent (and as always, the SEC states).
In 2019 60% of LSU's class was from another state. I think most programs, these days, are about the same as to out of state percentages.
Back in the day, Ohio State was 95% plus Ohio recruits. Not any more.
And HCs have cell phones & texts to reach kids with, and private jets to go on the road with.
