actually remember you posting some objective facts about O and you hit the nail on the head with that post.

None of it was bashing, they were simply, well, facts. All of what you posted sums up my concerns as we get to the beginning of another football season.

I readily admit that O can end those facts this coming season.

Absolutely. So I have no idea why this always turns into an "us vs them" thing. I really don't get it.

I've shared the same sentiment as you but then it's, "you aren't a real LSU fan and you're just a basher and " all that ridiculous nonsense. I don't understand why a conversation has to almost always turn into something so volatile. It's really weird.

Orgeron's program was #6 in the AP final poll last season.
Here are the HC's who finished ahead of Coach O:

Dabo Swinny
Nick Saban
Urban Meyer
Lincoln Riley
Brian Kelly

Ed Orgeron finishing 6th in his 2nd full season is an accomplishment.

Overall, I think it was a better than average season. I want to see a great season.

Orgeron finished in the same range as the most elite HC's in college football. That is an excellent season, not merely "above average". Only the harshest critics of Coach O would characterize #6-Final-AP as merely "above average".

Nah they will be back in some fashion, just more undercover. They are cockroaches after WW3. They said even after the radiation and nuclear winter killed the human race off less than .010 species will survive and cockroaches will be one of them. So if WW3 and thermonuclear war can't kill cockroaches you think a successful season this year for the Tigers will keep them from here....

Agreed. 110+ other programs would swap our record last year for theirs. Last year was a very good season. This year SECW title, SEC CG appearance and playoffs are the realistic targets.

They will be here. But they will have lost all credibility.

You believe what you want, Joe. I already stated WHY I think it was above average.

One thing I do find interesting in your little list is that 1-4 all won their conference championship. Notre Dame is an independent and here's O at #6 finishing 3 in the west. I'd rather see him win some sort of conference championship or even the West instead of just sticking him at #6 and while that's good, that isn't what LSU is.

So again, that's why I said it's an above average season, in my opinion.

If you have a different opinion, per the usual, then so be it. But you don't have much to compare it to as far as LSU games go, now do you? You have last season to base your opinion on.

Am I critical of O as a game day coach, I am. He's paid handsomely to receive some criticism and he has even admitted this and welcomes it. Having concerns about a coach on game day based on his resume' isn't bashing him.

Like always, you have everything upside down and back to front and inside out.

From the beginning of Miles tenure up to the 2014 season you would see more highlights of games where our rank is shown in the top 5 than it wasn’t. That is what we are coming from. Statistically it was a good season that needs improvement. I think 1 game improvement is enough, others think he needs to win 11. Either way, not every season will winning 9 reg season games and going 5-3 be an “excellent season” usually that would be what I would categorize as good, and that’s it.

This is just my opinion, but this is what I'll consider an excellent season, right now.

But according to the resident tourist, I constantly bash O. The above sentence is obviously being non supportive of O.

I would say good instead of decent, but there are different ways to look at it. In terms of hard stats, it want anything fantastic but it was good enough to give me confidence that we are moving in the right direction.

In terms of the emotional side of being a fan? Last season was incredible. It felt like we were in the playoff race up until the A&M loss and we beat the #2 team at home in dominant fashion.

So I can see both sides of the coin.

Goodnight.

The reason I was posting so, shall we say, carelessly, last night like claiming Miles would have lost to OM, is because I was tired. Now I’m about to be tired again so I’m gonna quit while I’m ahead.

I believe LSU will achieve this. (But a football can take funny bounces and refs can make funny calls.)

And, I don't think Orgeron MUST do this to have a highly successful season.
