Mike Williams signed in June to go to mighty 7-25 Seton Hall. How can we possibly survive without him
His point was that MM has consistently left at least one guy on the bench each season that could be a contributor while the losses piled up. Williams scored 7 ppg in SEC play in his first season…then couldn’t get on the floor last year until 1/3rd of the way into SEC.
When you are winning you can have a short rotation. But when you are losing, a LOT, it makes little sense to not exhaust all reasonable options to try to help win a game.

LSU fans are so nauseating and negative. Can we just ask a couple questions without stupid name calling or saying irrelevant shite.
Your constant need to police basketball threads for lack of sunshine pumping over this pathetic excuse for a coach you have inexplicably aligned yourself with (ironically while considering yourself to be a knowledgable basketball poster), usually immediately followed by another post from you doing the exact thing you just got finished whining about, will never not be funny.

Not a single player voted on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team preseason all sec teams. That should tell you something! This should be the year we get rid of this clown !!
Remember the excuse why McMahon was struggling was that the NIL money was low according to Woodward. We will see what all this NIL money bought us.

Gotta be careful with these preseason practices.
I once got first hand feedback that Glover Jackson was going to be all world.
Later that season I watched him play defense with his hands straight in the air and his back to the player with the ball.

He’s filling the role of the inexplicable healthy scratch (who would be able to contribute) that the clown always seems to have each season.
Astute observation, there seems to always be one or two that are out for some vague, unexplained reason, and because there is almost zero coverage of LSU basketball, no dedicated beat writers or anything of the sort, questions are never asked - and CMM never tells us.

I went to the prarctice. both Miller and reed look big and strong and good.
I wouldn't count on Reed being a big contributor early. He's not even a year out from a major knee injury and, just recently, was fully cleared for a return. For a guy that has never been consistent, it's a lot to expect him to be great out of the gate under those circumstances.
Miller was the one young player that showed notable progress at the end of last season. Most notably in the post instead of trying to be a 6'10 wing. If that progress continues LSU may have something in him.
I think Sutton will play the 4. It's the 2 and 3 that are unknowns. McKinnon may be able to shoot, in a practice scenario, with little defense. But it is a whole different scenario when you face the length and athleticism of the SEC. PJ Carter shot well from deep at Memphis. It seems like he could be in the running for a 2/3 spot along with King.
Looking at the roster I'm not real sure what the strength is. It may be more of a slashing/attacking the rim team. But it so, will MM recognize and accept that, and play to that strength. LSU hasn't been a good 3 point shooting team under MM. Yet, they are often one of the SEC leaders in 3 point ATTEMPTS. Among many issues, the biggest, IMO, is MM rarely seems to have a feel for the strengths/weaknesses of his roster. It's like he takes a one size fits all approach and tries to force his roster to fit it. The success (or lack thereof) shows the benefits of that plan.
Defense is a question mark too. Last year MM had his best defensive team at LSU. But that was largely due to LSU being a solid rim-protecting team. The two guys who led that category, Chest and Collins, are gone. Reed is not an above-the-rim player/shot-blocker. Miller had moments last year, but he's not a great shot-blocker. Nwoko is probably the best they have there. But how many minutes are you going to play him with Reed/Miller on the roster? If LSU doesn't have much shot-blocking can they be good defensively? They haven't yet under MM

Where are we on toughness and physicality? For me that's been the biggest weakness all 3 years. It affects just about every aspect of the game. Outside the Mississippi State transfer, I'm not sure I see that as having been addressed.
I hope I'm wrong, I'd much rather CMM prove me the idiot and win next year and beyond. But if we are tissue soft again next year - and my early perception is we may well be - I just can't take watching that same movie again.

Just wondering. LSU doesn't do a midnight madness event?

I think there have been some attempts in the past but lack of interest ended them.

That's the kind of thing the program should be pushing to create some student interest.
