Jefferson for the game.

Not his fault no one is blocking, Lafell is dropping passes, and Crowton is calling nothing but deep routes.

and the kid STILL almost pulled it off.

When they called an option on the second play of the game on offense, I knew we were in trouble, and I knew, at that moment, that JJ was a freakin stud.

I was actually applauding JJ for his performance after the game.. I thought he was gutsy, it was obvious that the ankle injury was slowing him down.. Yet we still called a few options with him as QB.. WTF? He stood in there and delivered the ball while taking a beating bc Ole Miss was blitzing every play and we were running everybody deep. And I actually thought that LSU's whole team fought like hell and almost stole a game that was completely boogered up by Miles and his staff.

except for the fact that on the sack, he had protection and just ran out of the pocket... (also disregard the fact that he was looking at the sidelines dumbfounded with :01 on the clock and never even got a snap off.

They never protected JJ the whole game. They never tried to set up a run game or throw any screen passes to help reduce ole misses blitzing.

His QB coach sucks. He has talent but he needs coaching to help him know what to and when to do it. Just like any other 19 year old would.

I have a feeling by the end of next season, we'll all be wishing we had Jefferson for another two years instead of just his senior year.

Tim Rattay laughs at this excuse.

I do give him credit for that. He also threw some very pretty deep balls.

Good point that they should have continued to run the ball, especially in the final minute. They also could have called another screen,if not a run, after Lafells great screen play got them into FG range. JJ was at fault on the last sack as well as one earlier for backing out of the well-formed pocket of his linemen. You are taught to "step-up" in the pocket to buy time, not the other way aroung. At least half his sacks this season have come on just this type of play. It's referred to as "pocket presence" and young JJ has not yet mastered it. No way he has not been coached on this, from junior high on up. That being said, JJ's propensity for falling into sacks was even more reason to call a running play or even another screen from the 32. Poor play calling and poor execution equals bad news every single time.

Yeah...I thought that LaFell's 3rd and long drop was a game changer.

JJ is doing the best he can with the tools he's been given. I don't blame him one bit.

No, he is right. Black blocked his man where he was supposed to Jefferson didn't step up. With that being saidI have been anti Jefferson all year but I in now way blame him for the loss. He should have never been put in the situation he was in and he played pretty well. The loss is on the coaches.

This loss is on the coaches not Jefferson. However, our lack of offense on the season as a whole is Jefferson. He is way to incosistent, he holds on to the ball way too long, and he doesn't have a good grasp on the playbook.

He throws the ball well enough to make defenses respect the pass. Which means we should be able to run. Which we don't...with any consistency. There's plenty of blame to go around. I just wouldn't start with JJ.

with a bad ankle, without Charles Scott, and without Richard Murphy, and at the end of the game, without Keiland Williams. This was essentially JJ's first year as a starting QB. Yes, the coaching gaffes on Saturday are extremely frustrating, but all-in-all we should be proud of Jefferson - al the players for that matter, they do keep playing hard. And they still have a shot at winning 10 games this year. I hope they can pull it out.
