Once it passes, I bet the top high schoolers will sue immediately to be able to come out before 2020.

The one and done isn’t an NCAA decision

The one and done is an NBA rule this commission can not change it. Only the NBA and NBAPA can change it

In the article the commission has suggested ways of taking it out of the NBA's hands if they dont change their rule

If a change is not made to one-and-done, Rice said the commission will look into options, such as making freshmen ineligible or locking a scholarship for three or four years if the recipient leaves a program after one year.
"One-and-done has to go one way or another," Rice told The Associated Press.

That's an irrelevant commission. Think about it.

Like what, suing to tell a private business and certified union that they can’t set minimum standards for employment?

That’s fricking stupid and sounds like something that wouldn’t stand up to legal challenges
.

so the school couldn't recruit another kid for 2-3 years?
this is just suicide. no cute phrase necessary

Not to mention you’re denying another kid an opportunity and there’s going to be some unintended consequences

And whats stopping the NBA from saying frick it. We'll take you straight out of highschool?
They're allowing one and done as a favor to NCAA right now. They damn sure dont have to

This is not done as a favor to the NCAA. This is the NBA’s way to not have to travel to high school and AAU basketball games and deal with high school and AAU coaches. Plus it gives them one more year to see their development.

Fair enough.
I still dont see this happening unless the NBA wants it to happen and I dont see why they would want it.

The one and done has also hurt the NBA. It used to be that you followed kids in college and learned their names as well as anticipated how they would one day be in the NBA. In this fashion, name-recognition kept fans interested. With one and done, nobody remembers anybody so the NBA becomes almost invisible, name-recognition wise.

Good and good riddance.

I guess you all missed that part.

The rule may be an NBA rule, but it definitely is in the hands of the NCAA or even the individual Universities actually.
When these kids accept scholarships, just provision the scholarship to say if you leave within a 3 year period, you must pay back the scholarship. Make this a rule to scholarships through the NCAA and there will be no more one and done...YES SIR

Schools would be locked in on the scholarship they gave to the one and done. Hence they won't offer the one and done kid. He would be able to go straight to the nba out of high school. The odds of success are very low.
