Well said. I dated an Ole Miss grad and you described her perfectly !

Look all I'm saying is that all the Ole Miss fans that I've meet are really down to earth and really hospitable to me and my family...I like them alot. Les Miles has been quoted saying before that othe than LSU fans, Ole Miss fans are they nicest he has ever meet and I just have to agree with him

You must not know very many ! They are full of them selves and most don't even know they are being laughed at.

SnipeHunter is right on, as a general rule. I have lived in MS for 35 years, and they do think they are better than you and I. However, one of my best friends in MS was an Ole Myth fan, and a FB player no less. Fine man. Most Ole Myth fans do think they are better than us, and they tend to look down their noses as LSU fans, sort of in a condescending way. I've hated Ole Myth fb for 60 years.

Just saying.

Welcome Snipe. It's better to be a non-lurker
Solid first post. Needs more smack talk about how LSU is better at everything Ole Miss claims to do well.
AND
That we will
to remind them of that on Saturday.

This post is spot on for much of the Ole Miss fan base.
My Dad was berated by an Ole Miss woman for standing under an empty Ole Miss tailgate tent while he was waiting to meet a friend (Ole Miss grad). She went on and on about "his kind" not being welcome in the grove and that he had to step outside of the empty tent. This pathetic woman looked down on my dad simply because he was decked out in purple and gold... And my dad is the farthest thing possible from the trashy wal-mart LSU fan you occasionally cross.

I seem to get along with my wife, my two brother in laws and two sister in laws just fine(All Ole Miss grads). I have become great friends with 4-5 guys who are recent graduates from OM that are cheering for LSU for the rest of the season. I have meet some true douche bags from that school. But a statement saying they all think they are better then you is ridiculous. You go to some parts on LSU campus where the attire and most of the tailgate equipment is the same as OM. You go to other parts of our campus and visiting fans will say "All LSU fans are trash." They have a lot of pride being from Mississippi and a lot of pride that they went to Ole Miss over MSU. But you will find just as many LSU fans who our proud of our state proud of going to LSU and not any other state college and who show/wear their emotions on their chest.

I work with a bunch of old mrs fans and they are in fact, very condescending and pretentious...
of course, as long as they continue to do what I tell them to do, I can overlook some of that....

Unearned arrogance is the best way to describe OM. the bears are lost in the woods. Maybe Archie can go back and play, that is the level of players they have, Manning stuck the Saints in a hole that took 30 years to climb out of. To bad his third kid did not go to LSU, he would have won a national championship. But nope Archie was having nono of that, LSU was beneath him

I live in North MS, and work all around the area, even including working at a sorority house on the Ole Myth campus recently. I would largely have to agree with Snipe Hunter. I have never met a more arrogant fanbase, as a whole. Well, UF was pretty bad in the mid to late 90s, but they could back up the talk with reality. Other than a couple of recent wins over the Tigers, what has Ole Myth really accomplished in the last 40+ years? Exactly.
Trust me. Every Ole Myth fan I've ever come in contact with came out of the wood work and found me after their two in a row. Funny, they have all disappeared this year. Most of them won't even talk a word of football with me, even though the ones that really know me know that I won't throw it back in their face. I don't have to. Plus, after surviving the end of Hallman's tenure and the downfall of Sweaty, I know what it's like when your team is at the bottom of a deep well. The few that will talk a little ball have been offering me tickets, because they won't be going to any more games this year.
Just to prove my point, here is one of many experiences I have had with Ole Myth fans that left me scratching my head. I was in the Pep Band that went to Oxford for the game in 1994, during Hallman's last season. Before the game, we had a little bit of free time after getting dressed to go get some lunch. After we ate, the group of guys I was with came across a middle-aged lady in a gas station parking lot having some car trouble. She had an Ole Miss shirt on, and flags on her car, but we didn't care. Several of us went to see if we could help her out. We gave her car a push so she could get it started. After driving a few feet to make sure it would run, she stopped to thank us, or so we thought. I guess she was color blind, because even though we had on our purple and gold band unis minus the coats, she asked if we were Ole Myth students. When we told her we were in the LSU Band, she huffed, gave us a nasty look, got in her car, slammed the door, and sped out of the parking lot without another word. We were all just standing there with surprised looks on our faces. I mean, if somebody took the time to help me start my car, I really wouldn't care what team they cheered for. That's just way beyond petty.
This is just one of many instances I have experienced since moving to North MS. I know a very few Ole Myth fans that are nice and can have a civilized conversation about sports, but I have given up on talking football with most of them. It's just not worth the effort.
And just to clear, I have a lot friends at my church who are State fans, and we get along great. I don't trash talk them about our win streak, and we all make fun of the other school in the state together. It's a win-win, I guess. The enemy of my enemy, maybe? I always know who I'll be cheering for in the Egg Bowl.

spankum, prob not the best year to go. Most of my friends have ling given up on their football team.
and to Snipe. i know exactly what you mean. Especially the accents. I had a few friends from tupelo at lsu and they stuck out. Any of my friends from highschool that went to ole miss have accents now. And they develooed them after only one semester there.
