[img] players should be paid for performance on the field, and the amount should be tied to wins and losses.”
well, I believe this for coaches but, for players, that would be an advantage to teams with weaker conference opponents. I would come to many SEC programs if NIL it tied to wins and losses

When it's your money you can complain , when it's someone else's stfu.

Ole Miss totally bought their team and it blew up in their face ! You can’t build it through the portal.
OM wasn’t far from 12-0, lost games to us and UK they could easily have won. They laid an egg in Gainesville but dominated Georgia.
If Nuss doesn’t make 2 heroic 4th down saves they are a playoff team.
By the way we’re just as guilty as “buying” our team as they are all paid for now.

I dig your enthusiasm, but it’s a far different time and you cited two of the largest heart players in during the past time (huge exceptions).

F this transfer portal lunacy, too.

I wish we were all in all the time. We have nothing to show for our effort as well by that standard.

Once there was a time when LSU would sign all or most of the Dirty Dozen.

Bama wrecked shite for a decade by recruiting 5 stars at every position.
Pre-NIL/Portal
Saban could promise the Moon and then sit them (either to wait, or because they weren't behaving) and there wasn't a fricking thing they could do about it.
That's changed.
Even if NIL gets them on your team, the portal gives them the option of getting the hell out if they don't like the situation. Team discipline and cohesion is a relic of a bygone era.
It's why Saban retired.

won with heart, not money. I could go on and on. Let’s focus in-state
Umm instate kids chase the money too, how many Louisiana kids has LSU lost to Texas, A&M, Georgie, etc since NIL...

LSU cannot compete monitarily with other markets like Texas, california, Oregon, Ohio state, Miami and a few others.
For that matter, neither can the majority of the sec team. The sec consists of relatively small market teams.
We’re seeing the effects this season. Georgia, bama, lsu having issues with consistency and holding onto coaches (Saban left)
Until the ncaa comes to an agreement, its a free for all and we’ll just have to do the best we can

It bought them nothing, overall.

I guess, it almost like when lsu had adams and them they didn’t go 8-5, 9-3 and 8-4
