Are people really pinning the Auburn game on JaMarcus?

Why is the claim that we would have won the 2006 NC with Hudson laughable?
because we lost it with a better QB. Because Hodson scored under 10 points 4 times in his career, so he would have lost at Auburn and UF too

He threw for more yards than Auburn had in total offense. He didn't turn the ball over.

So why was it has fault?

Because he is from Bama, because Tommy is from Lafourche, because Tommy didnt have a year round tan.

Hodson on the 2006 team would have been amazing. You are clueless to laugh this off.

Hodson on the 2006 team would have been amazing.

he never came close to reaching JR's performance on the field in 2006

hodson batted .500 in passing over 60% in his career. JR passed for over 67% in 2006

hodson hit 8.0 ypa twice. JR his over 9.0 ypa in 2006

JR also had a 3.5 TD/INT. here are hodson's TD/INT

2.375
1.667
1.083
1.833

hodson clearly had a better RS Frosh year (which may have been his best year)

they had pretty even RS Sophomore years

JR destroyed hodson in any year his RS Jr year

hodson was pretty mediore-bad his RS Jr. year and recovered a bit his RS Sr year back to his Rs/So stats

who had teh better year?

QBA: 2655 yards @ 57.7% completion rate (8.4 ypa), 22/12

QBB: 3129 yards @ 67.8% completion rate (9.1 ypa), 28/8

that's JR as a RS Jr v. Hodson as a RS Sr.

Hodson's stats

SFP, you can massage stats all you want...but if a game were on the line, and you had to have a QB to trust.......

HODSON. All day, every day. Not even close.

JR could have gone up and down the field all day given the chance.

The play calling lost that game.

Run Run Run.

With the Number 1 draft pick playing QB and 3 NFL level WR and miles kept banging his head against the wall handing the ball off.

Same thing against Bama in 12 and 13.

Slow, I know you're a big JR guy and IMO he was very good. But Hodson was a pretty darn good QB himself. Stats are important and certainly a vehicle to use when comparing say 1986 vs 2006.

Hodson was more of leader than Russell was. The Texas A&M and Notre Dame games in '86 were awesome as well as the Georgia in '87 and Auburn and Ala games in '88.

based on what objective evidence?

i can just as easily say that JR was much more of a leader than Hodson and "win" that point just as easily

well i know there are differences in offenses, but that's why i'm trying to use rates and not totals (even though hodson threw a ton)

on the same token, we can't argue career totals b/c we're talking 4 year starter v 2.5 year starter. if JR came back for 2007 then holy shite i can only imagine what kind of year he'd have. he was already the best QB in CFB in 2006

that's a solid way to look at hodson's time at LSU. where was he in terms of ranking, nationally? i honestly do not know and don't have time to find out the national landscape that year.

JR was 3rd in QB efficiency in 2006 behind 2 guys in smaller conferences with vastly inferior schedules (and one was colt brennan running a run/shoot super spread offense)

LINK

i don't know where to find that sort of info for Hodson's years

I would narrowly pick Hodson, though Russell's 2006 was better than any year Hodson had.

The difference maker was the way Hodson took over from the first game of his freshman year and was the clear leader of the team. Even though his stats are somewhat deflated by the Arnsparger system of bringing Guidry in for two drives in the first half, he was clearly the on-field and sideline leader of the team. Russell struggled with this aspect in 2004, though that may have been due to Saban jerking him around.

Both had big late comebacks (1987 UGA, 1988 Auburn, 1988 Bama, 2005 ASU, 2006 Tennessee) and were cool under pressure by the time they were sophomores.

Both are Tiger Greats.
