I was looking for some pictures of the old cage, because me and my friend were talking about how awful it was. I was looking for some pictures of it and I can't find any. Can anyone tell me where I can find some?

It was not awful! It just was average that's all. Drive to Gross Tete and tell me that tiger cage isn't worse!

I was just a kid when it was up. I really don't remember what it looked like, so it seems like it was awful compared to the new cage.

The new cage is just way bigger and nicer so it makes the old one seem bad. But trust me, Mike V (the Mike I remember) still had it made with the old cage.

Antique Tiger almost bought one, turned out to be fake. Good thread to read nonetheless

Not the one they pull him around the field with. The cage that held him on a daily basis is the one I'm talking about.

agreed...it was not like a gas station cage...just a regular cage like the one most zoos had at that time....the new one is much prettier to us humans, but I doubt mike thinks too much about it...

The current habitat is the 3rd one.

When I was a kid, Mike lived in an enclosed area that was no bigger than someone's 10x12 extra bedroom with very little fence around it. In the 80s, the students took up a collection and his habitat was enlarged but it was nowhere near as big as it is now.

I've been searching, my theory is LSU had them all removed. I can't find one. It wasn't that long ago, I was at LSU when they built the new cage, I bought a brick and remember Mike V going to the BR Zoo.

Old Cage way better than this. I'm about to check my old programs and see if I can find a pic to scan.

True, here is a picture of it being built in 1981.

Got there in '78 and that cage sucked. Remember the big feud about taking money out of the student fund or something to build a new one. Was fun watching Mike go nuts when the white truck came down Victory Hill with his food in the afternoon though.

What did they do with the kick arse old murals on the old cage? They are replicated, in sort of a stylized manner, in the Chimes restaurant. They didn't destroy those, did they?

Yes, that's it. You can see there's no outer place to play. On the other end was a small bldg. where he could go inside. I'm going to look at some old LSU yearbooks to see if I can find a picture.

The old cage was the shite because he couldn't hide from you.
