I've had it up to here with this hard times bullshite being spewed about lately. There's an answer for the spenders. They just don't want to talk about it, instead throw LSU in the hard times rhetoric. Playing everyone like a damn fiddle.

Lafayette is hurting but the Cajuns sold out of season tickets in baseball this season - around 3,000 sold. LSU will be fine.

Apartment vacancies I checked in Lafayette are running between 20 and 40%.
Last year many had no vacancies.

Why do you buy tickets if you expect to sell them?

buyers shouldn't be responsible for your TAF fees to begin with IMO

Isn't the TAF fee tax deductible?

Check back in when LSU sells out its season tickets again. Nothing is going to change. The waitlist is entirely too long.

However, with LSU football surging with coaches and recruits, and with LSU football being a buoy in hard times, perhaps this offsets things somewhat? Will the Oilfield downturn be noticeable in 2016 attandance?

2016 will be a Natty year for LSU.
At a minimum, we'll be in the playoffs.

The needlessly large pickup truck industry will likely suffer more.

That has nothing to do with the fact the economy is in a slump.
They are closing small Walmart stores, grocery stores, etc...
You can't base a statement of our economy on the fact that LSU is selling out of tickets.
Supply and demand.

Last year, LSU sold all season tickets, but you could buy lower level seats to any game below face value. IMO supply/demand about equal--maybe a little more supply than demand

You cant base LSU's ticket sales on the fact that some baws cant afford a 6 inch lift for their king Ranch

We have sold out season tickets for 12 straight years now. That aint changing brotato chip.

I feel the same way. I can see asking big money for a huge game but to make someone pay 80$/ticket for a ULM type game because you averaged your fees out is just immoral and dare I say trashy.

As I understand it the fee attached to each seat is deductible but not donations to the tradition fund or philanthropy funds donated to throughout the year.

Edit: I've never asked more than face when I can't make a game and need to sell.

I see you have 17 replies, but let me pile it on for anyone still reading.

The cost of the ticket, is the cost of the ticket, and the amount that you can expect to get back on resale. You may be able to get more/less than that price depending on demand for the game.

The TAF fees, are a fee paid by you for the right to hold and retain season tickets. You cannot reasonably expect to pass this cost along, because the buyer receives no benefit from paying the fees.

If it were that easy to pass along fees, then people could just sit on tickets, accumulate points and never actually go to the games. This causes an inflated perception of demand for season tickets, which raises prices. Thus, the fees are separate from the tickets, because it is a separate product.

Lastly, combined with increased TV coverage, larger stadium and the teams recent performance compared to 10 years ago, market conditions dictate that the price would be going down for secondary market tickets.

No. The team's success will be the only variable in overall attendance.
