Kerry Combs as defensive coordinator was a complete bust and his mid-season replacement only a little better.

Kerry Coombs possibly installed the worst major college defensive gameplan I've ever seen in my life against Bama in the 2020/21 *national championship game. He repeatedly covered Devonta Smith with a slow LB when Smith was in the slot and he never tried to commit extra resources to stopping Najee or Smith. I guess he wasn't aware of those two guys being any good. It was truly atrocious defense! At times Smith was so open it was like they just stuck their heads in the ground and pretended he wasn't on the field. I swear that I think every reasonably intelligent football fan with a modicum of understanding of defense could've installed a better game plan! I'd say it was worse than a Bo Pellini strategy, but I'm not sure if Pellini even installed game plans.

NOW just need a good TE and an OL/C!!! Charles Turner ain't going to cut it at C he can't snap the ball back to QB too slow and high fricks up the timing of every play, hilarious actually!!!

I've noticed this with Turner as well, but that's really fixable IMO

What was their reaction to Joe Heisman leaving, probably thought he was nothing special either.

He was a projected 1st rounder at one point so I’d disregard whatever they say

tOSU guy on AFR just now said he was a prototype recruit who had to wait behind some studs for 2 years and played pretty well until the injury bug got him. Seems to be pretty high on Banks, but stopped short of putting him up there with some of the recent stud corners tOSU has produced. He's probably limited to outside corner or possibly safety. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out now that the kid is finally healthy.

I remember many folks here saying Joe couldn't be any good because he was OSU's No. 2. Even after his first year here, many here were saying he was only a game manager.

I was here from day 1 saying how I thought he was very good -- A 2d to 5th round draft pick. Little did I know he was the goat and for that I am very happy. Loved the guy at OSU and loved him at LSU.
