Oh look, the usual suspects.

O did a phone interview and discussed what they would run on defense and hired him based on the relationship they had and the reputation he had. It didn’t work out. We’ve moved on.

Also not surprised to see the pathetic pitting of our coaches against one another.

he made a mistake, owned up to it, made a change and now we see if it works like his others changes from coaching mistakes have worked out.
It's just frustrating. For a coach who is so dependent on his OC, DC, and PGC, he sure does seem to make quite a few mistakes when it comes to hiring them.

It was also during Covid.
Wasn’t he hired in January? What covid restrictions were in place at that time?

Correct!
How many of the same experts were criticizing Saban, after the loss to Iowa in 2005.

If you are equating an on field schematic mistake in the spur of the moment to not interviewing coordinators for a job, you arent equipped to continue the discussion

Another poster in this thread said O blamed it on covid. I checked the dates and it was in late January. I don’t remember when it first came about.

Eds gotta put together a hell of a season. The Pellini hire destroyed a lot of goodwill he earned in 2019.

Not just the hire, but he should have been fired three games into the season.

Which would have accomplished exactly nothing. Then you have who running the defense? He wasn’t getting fired after three games for what he was making and his history with the university.

None first Covid restrictions were in March with the whole 15 days to flatten the curve that we are still kind of in. Longest 15 days ever.

Yea it’s pretty ridiculous that some folks continue to grasp at comparing Saban to Orgeron.

The GOAT compared to a guy with exactly one great season out of 7 years of being a head coach.

Whether anyone likes it or not, Orgeron will be on very thin ice if he has another mediocre season. Woodward is anxiously waiting for his chance to go get his football coach and really put his mark on our athletic department

Eh I think this is incredibly revisionist. Everyone did not think hiring a guy that hasn't been coaching at the FBS level for years was a home run. Particularly when the game had substantially evolved offensively since he left.

Sure it would. What did leaving him on staff do? Besides cost LSU money and games.

I think everyone thought the hire would be the result of a competent search and complete due diligence.
We are entitled to think that if we pay our HC what we pay and expect to compete for SEC championships.
Does anybody challenge that notion?

No one can be compared to Saban at this point. Literally no one.

Do you seriously believe that an in person interview would have changed things?
