LAU Athletics Dept is perfectly happy with being a second/third tier football program that rakes in huge $ for them every year from a fanbase that perennially settles for less.
Why put out the extra effort to excel when mediocrity is this profitable?

What LSU really needed was a home run hire that would unify and re-energize the fan base, as well as serve notice to the rest of the college football world that we are committed to returning to greatness.
