51) Los Angeles Dodgers: Jesmuel Valentin, SS, Puerto Rico Baseball Academy, Gurabo, Puerto Rico: Son of former major league infielder Jose Valentin, Jesmuel is a switch-hitter with line drive power and good defensive actions, although opinion is split on his long-term defensive position. He is committed to LSU but should be signable in this slot.

Well hell, that did not take him long. So much for it will be a hard decision to make. Something does not sound right here. Way to fast on making a decision. No way they could have talked money already.

They more than likely talked money with him in the last week or so and what it would take for him to go pro over going to college. In my opinion it was a done deal when his name was called.

@RandyRosetta: Have gotten same thing confirmed as @FletcherKTBS is reporting on Hayden Jennings. Paul Mainieri was "stunned" at how early he was picked.

He wasn't the only one. Literally never heard his name once in the high-draftable guys we talked about on here (Gallo, Diaz, Bregman, Chinea...)

You're right. I'll invite the boys over for some pizza and see what their future plans are.

This. Rounds 4-10 will be going after guys who are ready to sign more so than in the past from now on I believe.

Adam, since we are in round 13 now, based on who was drafted, both college and hs players, who do you think makes it to campus? I know I ask you this every year, but I value your opinion. You and MOT seem to know your stuff when it comes to the draft and college baseball.

TIA

This isn't so hard anymore. In the past, you never knew who was going to make it to campus, because teams could offer way more than slot.

At this point, I think that everyone who has been picked so far will likely not be here next year, and everyone who hasn't been drafted will likely be on campus.

Stupid question, but does Bregman come right in and take Nola's spot? How good is he? I am thinking so but I don't know as much as some others do. I figured we would lose KG and the two 1st round picks. don't know about the hs in the 6th, but if that is all we lose, not bad. Hope Goody comes back, but if not good luck to him. I am pumped about the draft so far.

Gallo-Will probably wait it out to see the Rangers top offer. They'll have roughly 5.5 million to spread upon their top 5 picks (All which are HS prospects) unless they low ball the hell out of rest of the top 10 selections. Wouldn't be surprised if his signing dragged out to the end of this month or early next month before getting it done.

Diaz-Will be gone. He's one of those sign and place guys if you will. You're happy to take his commit, ecstatic if he somehow makes it but you don't get too close to him him knowing he'll be playing in the minor leagues this summer.

Jennings-Obviously the surprise of the draft. Talks of prior negotiations between him and the Nationals and him accepting their offer. He's gone in my opinion immediately, a loss but not a dagger in the heart on this class.

Bregman-Will be the jewel of the class and attending LSU no matter where he's selected from this point. Most likely will find himself in the starting lineup at 2B or SS depending on how him and Jacoby line up.

Chinea-Will also be at LSU in the fall. A top 300 prospect and will compete for a spot next year maybe even competing for a DH spot.

Everyone else will be here...unless there are other negotiations under the table

Either 2B or SS, he's one of the top bats in high school this year. Top prospect in New Mexico and the 2010 USA National player of the year (An honor shared by a list of 1st rounders of past)

So if we had to choose between Jennings and Bregman, it's a no brainer right?

Gausman-Is gone and we should be happy for him.

Nola-Graduating and improved his stock tremendously as well as his bonus.

Goody-Drafted again by the Yankees in the 6th round, almost certain that he will sign. Can't blame him.

HR Derby

I mean I know it's juiced bats, slow pitch basically...but damn this dude has power. Why is he dropping?

Signability. A team actually called him in the 2nd round but he told them not to bother because he would be attending LSU.

He's dropping for the same reason Gausman/Lee did. It's likely he said he won't sign for less than 1st or 2nd rd money. And with the new CBA, it's not worth taking a player who is saying he won't sign, because they can't just throw first round money at them like they used too. ie zach lee.
