In the mind of a college football player though they work their arse off in practice. Have to travel a lot in a short span and try to have tutors keep them up with class. It's a lot of pressure put on these kids and they are gonna want to party with their friends especially when everyone loves them on campus. The free tuition and board they probably barely acknowledge.

I think we all agree that its not a positive for the team but there is enough negativity in the media about this.
The fan base is supposed to pick these players up. You loved these guys when they were scoring touchdowns. We gotta support them when they mess up.

They are being paid to make money for the university. Big difference. These kids are gone in 3-5 years. Is the face of the university Seth fruge? No. Does he help the team be succesful and make the university money? Yes. Les is being paid to coach the team and represent the university.

would you agree though that they deserve a punishment. A one game suspension should suffice for smoking weed.

Do they show they appreciate the free ride they have?. Do they care about the fans that save all year to make it a fun time for their families and friends?,
What about the respect they should show for our great school LSU which has made it possible for them to join the Tiger faithful?, Hell no !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They know what the fans have been through with the crap with JJ... If i said the real truth I would be banned.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember how worried I was when JJ and Shep were out. Look what happened. JL and OBJ did fine. Hopefully this is nothing major and the TEAM will do fine. Hopefully, one or all of the new starters can have a breakout game. That is IF these rumors are true. I love this team. Go Tigers.

Just a thought. I'm reading a lot of this:
But isn't the TEAM just defined as the aggregate of the individual players? If so, then you're just saying you'll support the individuals no matter what they do. But that's not being a good fan, that's being an idiot. If this definition is incorrect, then "the team" is merely some abstract concept (like "dumbness") and it becomes very difficult to see what connection there is between your feelings for the individual players and your feelings for the abstract concept.
Please think.

I think your taking what I said the wrong way. I just want people to support the guys playing and not dwell on this.
I realize its wrong but we have to move on and play with the guys we have saturday.

picking players up and making excuses for people just becasue they play football is two different things... to make it worse its not just players,.. IT'S STARTERS.
I do not for the life of me understand which part of that you or anyone else here doesn't get.

Definately. This is a huge game and I think the players will be punished internally more than just for a game.
This will follow them the rest of their careers.

Thanks for saying "bonehead decision", everyone's saying mistake but drugs are a decision you make and do, personally we don't need them, they didn't care about LSU, I don't need them. We'll win without them.

Great, it's a trade-off. They get an education and get an opportunity to "audition" for the NFL and LSU makes money. They're still representing the University, and should act accordingly. And, you're right in that they're only here 3-5 years, but in that short time, alot of damage can be done to the University's image. Like it or not, LSU is getting alot of great publicity right now because they're the #1 team in the nation ... you can bet that we'll now get alot of not-so-great publicity because of the actions of a few.

some of ya'll crack me up.
these kids made stupid decisions. they are punished for it.
whatever they did was in violation of team policy. these shmucks put themselves in front of the team. i'm glad they will sit this game out. hell, it may do them some good to sit out two games. (OMG ... miss the bama game???? Yes, if warranted; I'll leave that up to CLM). these kids need to learn this lesson now so it can help them throughout their life.
oh, and the TEAM will move forward without them.
