It was my understanding that he's going JUCO. Has that changed?
That was my speculation before it was even announced that he was released from his LOI. He just never seemed like he was going to make it to campus. If he doesn't sign, I'd expect him to end up at one of the Florida JUCOs. Or San Jac, they're already picking up some drafted former SEC commits.

What's interesting is that if they don't sign Turang, they'd probably have enough money "saved" to get Cabell. But with the Turang deal likely going down to the wire, they're going to let Cabell go.

If this is the case, that would get the brewers closer to the $3.5M-3.6M range.
They'll be close to this before signing anyone over slot after round 11 is my guess.
I think they offered Turang 3 last week and he and his adviser didn't flinch.
Later this week they'll come back with 3.25.
In the next few weeks they'll work the books to 3.5.

Exactly they likely can't have both.
Also, it's going to take them signing both Ashby and Gray before even turning their attention to Turang.

I honestly think 3.5 is the breakeven number. If Turang signs, it will be 3.5. I don’t think the Brewers go higher than that.
I think eventually Turang probably comes down on his price and sign, but who knows, maybe he sticks hard to 4-4.5.

The big question is...is $3.5M enough to get Turang?

The top ten round senior signs I've seen so far this year (not for the Brewers) have been 10K and 5K.
Yep, usually is the case.

I agree

I think it is. Hard for any 18 yr old to pass on that kind of money.

I'd imagine whatever choice he makes would be the right one for him. What I've read sounds like he's got a lot of good support around him. He sounds like his family would be knowledgeable about all of this and can give him some good guidance. For our sake I hope it's to come to school. I think we've got a better chance than most are giving, but to say I'm ignorant on all of this would be an understatement.
One question, his dad played pro ball; did he go to college first or straight to the pros? I'd imagine it was a fair bit different at that time but is still an interesting question.

Little irony here, Turang’s dad was drafted by the Brewers and he turned them down.

We have a better chance than what most are giving, but like most people have said in this thread. When it comes down to the 11th hour and 3.5-3.7m is on the table, does he decide it’s best to play it safe and take the money, or take a risk to experience college? I don’t think he even knows right now, and the family is just letting it play out.

Right...easy to be ballsy and stand firm right now.
Come the eve of the signing deadline, however, that likely changes.

Ha! That is interesting. Hopefully history repeats itself a bit here. If you happen to know, out of curiosity, where did his dad play in college?
Obviously the odds are against us, but I kind of think Bregman's success not too long ago has to be a powerful motivator in our favor. It's not the same situation, but surely he's looked at Bregman, the success he had here, getting to play in Omaha and all, then his pro career taking off as it has resulting already in a WS championship. Anyone could look at that in awe and want to follow in his footsteps.

LSU should ask Bregs to call Turang and talk about his experience and the choices he made that worked out for him.

Likely an NCAA violation.
Right, Bregman should call Turang out of the blue with no mention of LSU. Just simply to speak on his experiences in life.
